  • I don't do sport I was going to say but that's not strictly true but is none of this kicking or hitting a ball around for ages cant get my head around that.
But I do shoot (rifle) generally for deer (culling) occasional other animals and I do fish salmon or wild trout.

Some teams' fans are like that ... and it's not about football, it's tribal ... the Celtic/Rangers thing especially ...
It's religious. Protestants (Rangers) vs Catholics (Celtic). In Northern Ireland, football matches were the trigger/excuse for some really nasty sectarian violence at various times from the Easter uprising to the Good Friday agreement.

And I know Obs doesn't need me to speak for her, but my own personal antipathy to football in particular stems from its ubiquity. Some sports you have to go looking for, and I've nothing whatever to say about those. But some you simply can't avoid unless you shut yourself away from all forms of news media. It gets rammed down your throat every day, whether anyone's played a match or not. And it gets very very tedious when you're not interested.

I think my antipathy stems from my own lack of any competitive nature.
I don't care who can run faster, is taller, better looking , earns more money, drives a nicer car , lives in a bigger house etc etc etc, than anyone else.
None of those things , in themselves , makes one a better, or worse person than anyone else. Nor , for that matter does a love/hate of art, science , history, pets, the royal family or anything else you can mention
I repeat, I understand that folk enjoy it,( and long may that continue) I just don't understand why.

And I don't understand why  M&S has a big Christmas tree as part of a window display!!!  .....on the 4th October!!!???   There wasn't another one to be seen in the whole of the city centre   .... just two men in suits and M&S badges standing on the pavement beaming at their window.

Life can be quite confusing at times  ;)

    Morning everyone.

Still drizzling here (never heard of smirr before Fairy). Another 2mm overnight to complement the 7mm we got the night before.😁
I hope the driving lessons are progressing well. My daughter has not long been through that with her son. He quite happily takes himself to work in his little car now.

I’ve already posted in the past about sport. Our reason for watching the cycling races in Europe are because we’ll never get there to see the landscape live. Really spectacular mountains and valleys!
