Loving the idea of @Hostafan1 being wheeled down to his lake, by scantily clad young men. I think it is what Devon has been missing. Am assuming togas and bacchanalian excess will be involved.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@Fairygirl ,I'd love one of those on wheels down by the lake and some gorgeous young men to wheel it in and out. I'm very modest you know.
I can just picture you Hosta.....
Yes - it wouldn't suit our light Obelixx. It's painted black like most of the other timber - much more appropriate for our skies A couple of things are that soft, sagey green, and that works quite nicely with the black contrast. Love crab too - but never have the opportunity to eat it now. I think 'lurking lurgy' is worse than actual lurgy. I had to laugh at the weather girl on the Scottish news earlier. There's gale force winds further north, and she said they would soon 'wheech through'.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I watched the plastics programme. I was horrified, but not surprised. Indonesia is awful about rubbish disposal, and plastics in particular. Last time we were on holiday in North Sulawesi, right at the tip, the wind changed one day , and the beach looked like that. Underwater were glass and metals even part of a car that had been dumped. One dive we came up into one of the plastic bergs, totally surrounded by a six inch depth of floating plastic. Newfoundland by contrast had little or no bottles lying about. All bottles, glass and plastic and metal drinks cans, have a deposit on it. Much like when we were kids, the local kids round up the stray bottles for extra pocket money. If there was 5p on every plastic drinks bottle, how fast do you think our hedgerows would get cleaned up?
Further to my earlier comment about Eucalyptus trees affecting plants under them - Hubby found a site on line that claims it was an old fallacy. 🤭 Anyway, that was what we were told at the School of Horticulture. I’ve copied a page from Kurt Cremers’ book about it. It was produced in 1990. So, I don’t know what to think now.
Back (yesterday) from the Emerald Isle, which is not entirely emerald at the moment thanks to the effect of Storm Ali, ripping leaves from trees and turning the remaining foliage prematurely brown. The grass was lovely and green though...
Goodness. It took me most of yesterday evening to catch up with September's thread and start October's! It was lovely to read your news, even if not all was entirely positive - fingers crossed for more rapid progress with the eyes, LilyP. Glad some of your news was good, Punkdoc - best wishes for the future.
Thanks for the wand-waving, @Fairygirl - the weather in the west of Ireland was very pleasant and sometimes even sunny. We weren't that far from @Mary370 this time, visiting East Clare as well as Co.Galway with the family.
Hope BL has a wonderful time in Italy... not been for 50 years. Happy memories, though. My parents loved Venice and took the family there, as well as to Florence, and we also visited the Dolomites.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I have a bed underneath the eucalyptus. The main problem is the amount of water the tree sucks up. I have the same problem under the oak in summer. The phormium growing right at the base of the eucalytus doesn't seem to mind, nor snowdrops, sedums, or the annuals that go in , just as long as they get water.

Any ( all ) of these chaps would do.
Right, enough of this nonsense. I'm off back to the tunnel.
