Brilliant Hosta. Send them mine as well - they must have forgotten to email me....
That Nigerian prince is getting sloppy  ;)
you must be mistaken. The Nigerian Prince is giving his money to me. He's got my bank details too. I'm just waiting now.

B*gger. I thought he was my friend...
Hosta - can you take a look on the Secret Garden thread? Morag has some plants she thinks might be water lilies, from an old pond she's tackling and sorting out.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Evening all.  Busy day fixing a bed and putting up hooks and hanging curtains and cleaning.    Thunder storm this evening and finally some rain so it's feeling fresher.   Grocery and supplies shopping tomorrow then a raid on the patisserie goodies shop and then Brussels for a raid on the Chinese SM followed by a film.

Sounds like a lovely day for you Joyce.   Good.

No Nigerian princes here.  Am I doing something wrong?

    Hello all. Sleep well, Dove.

Just read back 80 pages, the days are flying by.

I went to see son this afternoon to give him his birthday presents. Ended up looking after 3 small grandsons while son talked to the kitchen man who came to measure for their new kitchen.

    Congratulations Yvie, adorable baby.

I hope Moira is OK, gallstones can be painful.

I always pay in cheques by post in France. French cheques have your address printed on them and it is a criminal offense to write a cheque when there aren't funds to cover it, so cheques are usually accepted here. I ordered some bedroom furniture from a Norwich shop, paid the deposit by card. I sent them a cheque as the furniture will be delivered when we are there in September, it had nearly two weeks to clear but the shop refused it. They don't take cheques. Why? They said to use my card over the phone. I hate doing that, it seems insecure and if I use my English credit card it means I will have only half left on it until October.

Note to Dove and Obelixx about car windscreen - car is left hand drive, windscreen has a camera in it, right hand drive screen wouldn't do so they had to order it from France, 4 - 6 weeks delay. It has now been fitted in France.

Joyce thanks so much, very tempting

we had an enormous road carrier come through tonight, this time we were down there and had the whole thing filmed on phone. No damage, however the escort driver couldn’t wait to tell us who probably goosed our wall
clearly no honour among thieves in the transport industry

Hosta, I had a call today from the USA wanting to know why I hadn’t completed an online order.  She was quite aggressive, then offered me all sorts of free products. I told her there was no such thing as a free lunch, think she was a bit confused  I hung up, after of course I had given her all my bank details 🤣😡

We checked out of the Hotel this morning. They didn't charge us for parking. That was to make up for the incompetence, sorry inconvenience. One lift working in the entire hotel. No robes, No pool towels, Jacuzzi jets not working. Room didn't get made up one day, we were offered someone elses room service order instead. Fan in bathroom didn't work. Very noisy air con. They hope to see us again soon. Not if I have anything to do with it.
Yesterday I spent clambering over rocks looking at fossils at Mistaken point. So called because Ships use to mistake it for Cape Race further up, and turn into the reef. It has some of the oldest fossils in the world. We got a special (research permit only)tour because it is being scanned by some people from Cambridge Uni, and hubby trained them how to use the 3D Laser scanner.
My knees this morning are reminding me that I am not 16 any more, and stop acting like a mountain goat.
I also got wet feet on the way down there when I spied something from the car and we made a quick stop. At the side of the road there were some Sarracenia purpurea . I hopped out and went over the big mossy patch to photograph them. Unfortunately the moss was about 10 inch thick, floating as a mat on the bog. I sank up to my ankles. At least I stayed upright and didn't go bog snorkelling. Good job I had walking boots and spare socks in the car.
Back to Heathrow  now on the overnight flight.  I hope the potted plants have survived. :)

Sounds like an interesting trip Fidget (wet feet and accommodation issues not withstanding).
Re. Banks closing, the bank that Hubby has his super pension go into has closed our local branch. Such an inconvenience! He has changed to another bank.
