Back from my eye test, prescription increased, new glasses ordered. Migraine prescription collected, a few bits picked up from Lidl, and choirmaster/piano teacher bumped into, cashpoint visited. Lots of things ticked off my list. Next item - make new list!
I've been sending cheques by post for years and years, primarily because I wanted to use a bank that didn't have a local branch. Even before that, I didn't really use an actual bank at all - set up my first current account at the branch near college in my late teens and I don't think I ever went in it again! I can understand that the loss of a branch must be very difficult for some, especially older people, but on a personal level I'm usually blissfully unaware. I think that first branch near college closed some years ago, so I'm not sure where 'my' branch is now, if I even have one. I could probably look it up, but it seems irrelevant.
Chicky, I forgot that you go on cycling trips (doh) so it seemed like a new thing. You are so active!
Trill's gone back to school today, and Bow's work experience is going well. I'm alone for the first time in ages .

Hi gang. Good trip yesterday, if a bit later than planned, and all went swimmingly till we hit a huge jam just after Mons for roadworks. Arrived at 9pm, unloaded the car and called for a pizza delivery.
This morning the legs have been attached to the L and Possum has more or less sorted out her work station. Needless to say the bolts I'd bought were half a mm too fat for the leg holes so I had to raid a DIY store for more. It's next to the SM so I popped in for milk and some wine for me and few bits and bobs and their card reader can't handle my French bank card as it's dual purpose credit and debit and confused it. Good job I still have Belgian account. Belgium stopped using cheques over 20 years ago so itw as a bit of a shock to find the French still do.
I went out later to move the car only to be told I can't feed the meter or park in that zone again today so I've put Harry in the underground car park and he can stay overnight. The bloody meter takes your number plate and is connected! This pm is curtain hanging fun. The forecast was wrong. Namur is neither cold nor wet but it's still very humid. Not nice, even with all the windows open and there's some chap with limited skills and an even more limited repertoire begging with an accordion outside the Orange shop opposite. Maddening.
Pdoc - good to see you. Hope you get Moira fixed. Yvie - gorgeous. Caesarian babies do come out looking rounded and relaxed don't they? Possum's "bébé nageur" teacher could always tell them from the normal births and the induced as the others always had a degree of cricked neck when he started them off in the water. LG - enjoy the peace. Chicky - rather you than me altho the scenery should be lovely. I do need to think about some exercise programme tho as I've noticed I'm not as strong as I was. Just dog walking and dancing isn't going to do it. Joyce - rugby is gaining popularity here but at the older levels it's too often chaps who've moved from football and don't have the rugby mentality so lots of ref baiting and bad manners.
Must get on now. Have a good afternoon everyone, whatever you're up to and Hosta - enjoy the hot water.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Had a lovely day with a friend today. Lunch then a visit to a local gallery to see The Rhythm of Light: Scottish Colourists from the Fleming Collection. It's on until the end of the month at Rozelle @Lily Pilly.
Evening all - been slightly absent and no chance of remembering anything I've quickly read. Apologies Lovely new arrival Yvie - a bobby dazzler right enough! Love to you all Lovely to see you too doc. Hope Moira gets the problem resolved. You don't need any more health scares. Cheques, banks and 'failures leaving jobs with big payouts'....all useless in my opinion. What's needed in rural areas, and other areas where banks have shut, and older people and businesses need to access them, is the mobile units used in many remote parts of Scotland. We seem to be making it harder and harder for ordinary folk to do basic things. Not everyone has a computer or internet access, and like to have the connection to real people. Been a bonny day here, and we missed the heavy showers apart from one late afternoon.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Well, am I ever the lucky one? I've just had an email to say I've won £1,000 in a lottery . All I had to do to claim it was send them a copy of my passport but I thought it'd easier if I also included my bank details so they can put the money straight in. Good eh?
