Pat, I've never tested the ph here. It's such a mix of stuff, oak, beech, ash, conifer hedge, and sometime more shrubby stuff like holly . I meant to say, there's a huge eucalyptus coming down on Monday so the chippings will smell wonderful. It's in front of my neighbours' house and in winter it is such a blot on the landscape , IMHO. No other evergreens trees nearby and it sticks out like a sore thumb. ( and it blocks a lot of sun from their house )
Morning you two. A wee frost for us tonight apparently which is good. Brightening here now, but still only about 7 or 8 degrees. Been out to check on the hog food to see if it's been eaten. They've been digging the bit of grass at the front again - I'll have to have words with them... Hosta - has Spike been again?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Re. ph Hosta, it might be worth getting a test kit, especially if you’ve got conifers in the mix. As I’m sure you already know, it can make a big difference to plant growth and happiness.
The lovely photo of the Hawkmoth - is your honey suckle flowering now? Mine is too, but I noticed a couple of Rosells having a feed on the new buds.🤬
It seems as though the temps here and “over there” are fairly similar at the moment. Cold nights and mornings, warm days. I think we must have reached low 20s today. I always think of spring and autumn as the “between” seasons. Neither summer nor winter. I’m hoping that tomorrow is the same. I love being in the garden.
Fairy, Hubby is going OK with his damaged abdomen. He has done small jobs in the garden today without getting any discomfort, so it seems that the last week or so with sitting around has helped. Any excuse to do that !🙄😴
Bye Hosta... Glad he's doing ok Pat. Hard to sit still when you're not used to it though. Hope it's a wee bit warmer here today than yesterday - it never got above 12 and it was a brisk breeze on top. Looking promising at the moment, so I may get more done outside rather than being in. Much better when you're sawing....
