You take care Frank and don't let all those Greatgrandchildren wear you out. If Jo Clifton makes an appearance I'll give you a heads up! Or an eyes up!!! x

Pleased to see you are still lurking Frank.  Your 'direct' response to questions is always an enjoyable read. :)

Thank you kind people I often think of my GW friends even talk to some off board.
Lurking no, if you put the name up say AnniD you get a heads up by e-mail well I do.
Stockton was on TV a few weeks past and it was one very small area in fact a few streets and the TV company trashed Stockton as is their want, never good news just bad.
Driving around Stockton and where I grew up it is a green Lovely area and the town centre is now bustling as the summer shows take place by the Riverside and in the centre.
My new Great Grandchildren are to me like the plants we nurture for a years then plant out to do their own thing, my hope is they do a better job of this world than we did.
Now must look up Pergola plants for Daughter then away for a break, may rejoin Strictly when they go to Blackpool as that brings back wonderful memories of dancing there.
    Regards to all Frank.

I didn't mean anything negative by my 'lurking' comment Frank.  Just that you are still taking an interest in the site if no longer particularly active on it.  Enjoy the great grand kids.  I know it's the duty of grandparents to spoil the grandkids so what are the duties of great grandparents? :)

KT53. The duties of Great Grandparents are two fold, stop the panic when new babies cry, the mother tends to run round in ever decreasing circles. I take and soothe the Baby it feels my calm and goes silent. i can pick up the baby feel for the ball of wind and get it to erupt, it often means i need a shirt change but that matters not if the baby is calm again.
Taking the baby onto my shoulder it picks up the big steady heart beat, the close contact appears to make them feel safe and Alexander is often asleep on my shoulder in minutes, his Mum Grandmother and Aunts heave a sigh and relax also.
We have the knack learned the hard way. With my bigger grandchildren i listen when they talk, quite a change from being shushed mum is talking or doing something more important than listen. The result is they demand to come here, I have no rules, noise is not a problem and if they want a biscuit or some fruit they do not need to ask.
Our Children are the future, we made a right mess of the world and the hope is they do a better job.
    Frank.

It's the wind eruption and the requirement to change shirts which has always turned my stomach, sometime quite literally, and made me thankful not to have had kids despite the joys they can bring.  Many years ago I was dragged round to see the newborn son of friends.  That baby threw up and I evacuated the premises just before doing the same with my lunch.  Ever since then the basic 'baby smell' has immediately made me feel ill.  I'm fine with toddlers and beyond, just can't cope with the first 12 months!

Hello all , just watching Stricklys first show 💃🏼🕺🏼
    Only recognised 3 celebs !

Apparently we're too old to recognise half of them but some of our younger family members are quite excited GWRS.

Got in late from my drive from Namur so watching the recording.   Seems OK so far despite that young oik AJ in the professional men still being there.

  • Perhaps AJ could have met his match this year in Lauren Steadman, Obelixx.  A feisty young woman.

Katie Piper may have dancing experience, but she's also had to learn to walk again following her horrific acid attack.  Respect to her, I think.

It could be interesting... though I didn't recognise many of the "celebs", to be honest.  Looking forward to Danny J-J because I loved Red Dwarf, and to Graeme Swann because I like cricket.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
