My mum always used soap poultice on our gravel/muddy grazes as kids. A thick layer of bar soap on a piece of gauze applied over the graze and left for a while- the bits of mud/gravel etc would stick to the soap... works a treat!
That's true @newboy2 Unfortunately the arthritis in my spine has been getting worse over the last 9 years and I'm not happy with lots of medication I've been given nor the operations I've been offered. I need to keep getting to work everyday so I'll happily give turmeric and Rosehip a try!
When a young teenager my son had some horrid looking warts on his hand and he was very embarrassed about them. The local GP had tried various things but nothing available back then in the early 80s seemed to work. We were at his uncle's wedding and my cousin's wife spotted that my son was reluctant to shake hands with people ... she took him to one side and when he came back he was laughing ... he said that Jan told him she was a witch and would cure him of his warts by buying them from him ... she gave him £1 ... a week later they were gone!!! The family has been very much in awe of Jan ever since ... she lives in Bath if that's any help at all ...

If we had thorns in our fingers that had gone in deep my gran use to make a hot potato poultice and apply that, you then wore it for a day or two. It worked use to draw the thorn to the surface it was then dug out with a needle, I don't ever remember it hurting I guess the skin had gone so soft.

A farrier told me to dip my son’s hand in the bucket of water he used for cooling my ponies’ shoes when he was shoeing them ... we tried that but it didn’t work. 😔
