Afternoon all.  I've been busy reorganising my sewing room (again) and moving furniture and mattresses about then went and potted up my anniversary shrub which is now sat in full sun near the front door until I get new beds dug.  Have decided we need a man with a bulldozer to take away all the roof tile crud in one we tried to dig so we may as well get him to do other stuff this autumn too and then have a planting fest.

Was woken up at 2am by a rather soggy small white furry thing wanting cuddles and then again at 4am by the black and white version announcing a mouse and wanting cuddles.  Took ages to get back to sleep so finally woke at 10am to find a cold coffee by my bed.  Luckily OH hadn't quite disappeared to golf and re-heated it for me.

No rain, of course, just a heavy dew.   Rather fancy a downpour but won't get one for a while.  They're threatening a whole mm in the early hours tomorrow and then 36C again by Tuesday pm.

Like the sound of that heuchera FG but I'll need to make some cool beds somewhere to grow those and hostas.   Stay dry H and think about some proper trousers given you're in a wet area and winter is a-coming.

Love the idea of an orangery and yes, I know someone who always does lunch for groups in her conservatory or on the terrace rather than in the house.

Horrible wet morning here but didn't really matter as I had booked my friend a 90 minute tour of Dumfries House and then we went for lunch.

Pat, friend is wearing woollen tights plus woollen socks under her trousers also a thermal vest, sweater and cardigan ......my central heating is on too.

Total wash out here today. Good job there is never-ending decorating to be done!
On second coat of my walls. They look quite blue at the mo but dry a pale grey. I think it’s one of those colours that looks different in sun light, day light and artificial light etc. I have a pale green in the breakfast room which is a different colour every time I look at it.
I had better finish for the day soon as roast dinner to cook, Dad coming over so expect he will want some food rather than to see my finished second coat 😉

    Fifty shades of grey.

Read back yesterday but have now forgotten everything again, sorry. I do remember that they didn't find anything, Hosta. That is good - but sorry that the mystery continues.

Having spent much of yesterday on a train in one direction, today is being spent on one going back up again, but further. My Granny's piano is soon to be joined by OH's Grandma's cello :-).

Well you learn something new every day 😁. Today’s nugget is that echinos is greek for hedgehog 🦔......hence echinops, and echinacea (for the spiky cone in the centre of the flowers).  So excited by my discovery that I felt compelled to share 😇

    Evening all.
Not too bad after all. Poured with rain this morning . We've got these horrid polyesterish trousers which are pretty horrid, but they dry really , really quickly. They come out the washing machine almost dry enough to wear, most odd. Waterproof trousers just make your legs clammy, and that's never good.
Home at 7 so just the 11 hours today. Much nicer afternoon with just 5 drops, nicely spaced.
We've not had much rain here, ie at home. The wheelbarrow has a hint of a puddle in the bottom but I've been down to the lake, no change there.
I hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

AuntyR - I realised that the colour I wanted needed to be the same as the colour of the plasterboard - and that was perfect! I have an internal hall at the back of the house now, after extending, so I didn't want anything darker, and I certainly didn't want a bluey grey. The carpet is grey too and matches up really well :)
That's lovely chicky - I may call Mrs Hog 'Echie' now. I'm sure she won't mind  ;)
Been doing indoor jobs- painting, blind fitting, making a table smaller. That one has taken forever. The rain has gone off, but it's not too warm. Been 11 most of the day, although it did get to 12/13 for a short while.
    Back to work tomorrow.  :/
