Thank you Obe, many I’m too early then, everything is about 3 weeks behind most people’s gardens so let’s hope.
lovely, Hosta, mine are not deep, I used those planting baskets so I suppose only about 4” soil on top.

Just nipped out to dig some spuds and nearly stood on a juvenile grass snake! At first I thought it was an odd looking slow worm (we have lots) until it moved and I saw the yellow band behind the head. Hadn't seen any for a few years although I am sure they are always around. Must keep my eyes peeled for more sightings.

@steephill ... always a special moment  :)  a sight I'll take to my grave was watching a grass snake swimming across our horsepond  at the bottom of the meadow, chasing Gt Crested newts who's silver marked tails were flashing in the sunlight through the water.  Magical :)

Mine (Peacock orchids) are in a shallow, small bed right against the house and survived last Winter but the ones I planted in the cutting bed* did not survive.

*This is a small bed I use to ‘experient’ with bulbs and seeds to see what survives the slugs. Nigella was the winner this year.

What was the wind charm spam? let me guess.
New poster wants a recommendation for wind chimes.
    I said I preferred silence.
Another new poster listed a supplier of said wonderful wind chimes? or was it someone stroppy who didn't like my suggestion?

I hope you are feeling better, Hostafan. My friend has got an intermittant problem with her car. Of course when it is booked in at the garage it seems fine, and they can't find it.   Bit like you and the hospital. Maybe if you have another attack, you go to A&E and they look at it then? Any consultant willing to see you at short notice if you are ill again?

I tried acidanthera twice. Twice they did nothing.

I have got two of last years xm*s amaryllis in flower now, albeit on short stubby stems.

Which reminds me, Tesco have got x*** chocs in, and the Heart foundation shop have got the x*** cards out. The RHS magazine today came with a book of x*** stuff. We haven't had the August bank holiday washout yet.

The trouble is, when it happens, I couldn't even talk to someone on the phone, never mind head to A&E. When Hubby called them on Chistmas Eve, it had pretty much passed by them arriving. Usually it's 15 minutes of intense pain, then , as if a switch has been flicked, it stops.

Thanks Hazel.  That's a bit mean - making you dream of what you'd do with it all.

I had the nice boy called James with a strong Indian accent, tell me my PPI claim had been approved. Which one, said I. I don't think that was in his script. He rang off.

Lovely jubbly steephill. Never seen one  :)
Happy Anniversary Obs. Have you being waited on hand and foot all day then?  ;)
    At least cake then.....
Lyn - I think when I leave them [acidantheras] in the ground, if they don't rot, they take ages to get going because soil's too slow to warm up. By the time they get to when they might get a flower stem and bloom, it's all too late. The squirrels possibly snaffle a few as well. Like Hosta - I get them cheaply in that Home Bargains shop or similar. Much less effort, and I can at least keep them somewhere with a bit of protection till they can go outside. They're very pretty. I've cleared a bit of a border so I might have more room for some next year.
I love winding those guys up fidget. They've adopted the 'English' name thing now to try and fool us. Aye right. We had one at work who said he was Dennis Wilson. Got very animated with my colleague as she strung him along. I got one the next day called Mike, so I asked him if he was a friend of Dennis, and was Dennis related to Brian, of the Beach Boys. He got very annoyed with me [clearly no answer to that on his script either] and said the problem with my computer was the photos I had on it. I could have opened a whole new can of worms there!   :D
Been f*nnying around outside, and got the little plants I ordered. They look quite decent. They enclosed a little toffee with the bumpf. That's my kind of nursery.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
