A nice day of drizzle here, not as heavy as I would wish, but good for the neighbours' grass and a holy relief. 22oC, can you believe it? Almost fresh. More storms predicted tomorrow and then it's up, up, up back towards 30oC for a week or so.
Two big butts full almost to the brim, and that is after filling:
3 watering cans for the next time in the greenhouse
taking 4 big buckets across to the barrels in the sheep pen
and thoroughly flushing both loos.
Plus the pond has had a refresh and the teeniest, tiniest trickle can be seen in the stream bed
Garden suddenly looks greener and what's left of my plants look happier. Lots of the grass already looks green again and it should start to grow in the sheep fields now, so they will be happier and need less feed from me
The best thing is the reduction in worry levels - I was having to use bought bottled water for the loos and thought I might run out of water for the sheep and my greenhouse if it had continued for even a couple more days.
No longer need to fret about the veg garden, or my
lined out new perennials, and can even hope for some more veg on the way.
My visit to a friend's garden party worked a treat. It bucketed down for the entire time and her garden looked very grateful.
Unfortunately, it was an hours drive away from me - in Kent. Here in Essex we had some rain but nowhere near enough. And we didn't realise until too late that the filter for our highest capacity water butt was clogged with dust so all the water just poured out onto the patio
