It rained here in Birmingham too!Β  Β It wasn't supposed to rain until tomorrow but I'm hoping it's going to be a nice day cos there's a Medieval show on.Β  Won't be as much fun in the rain.Β Β

But yeah, I am really glad it rained today.Β  Β

I recorded the last time it rained.. that was the 10th of June, we go 4mm before that it was mid May. Today we got 5mm. Denmark is not known for being dry. Average July rainfall here is 69mm And 55 in June. I do not think some of my grass will be coming back. Even a close inspection shows only brown crispy bits, even the roots are dry and dead. Most of the trees round here look like it's autumn, luckily not mine, but then I do live in a bog, groundwater here is less than a meter down. And since last year was the wettest in 60 years... plenty of that around.

It looks like we're set to have the entire 2 months back payment of rain in 2 days. Belfast had 99mm yesterday apparently. Perhaps we prayed too hard :#
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • We have it down here in balmy Cornwall. Great big ploppy drops, not the miserable mizzle we have been having for 2 seconds. ItΒ  rained on and off all day yesterday and all night. Lovely! Do not like the storm force wind though. That is blowing everything off or over.

    It's finally raining here!
Steady stuff, rather than a downpour, which means it will sink in rather than run off, so help all the plants in the ground more. Due to continue for a while too.
Not so fast at filling water butts, but, if my forecaster is correct. there should be more rain over the next few days, which will help.
A rough wind today, but should be better tomorrow and less sun and cooler temps may give plants some time to recover. Too late for my tubbed conifers though, I just didn't have the water to keep them going.
Going out now to fill some cans so I can water the greenhouse :)

It's rained here as well - yippee!!! Only casualty when we got home is a large branch of a cotinus "Grace" which must have snapped off in the wind.

The rain here in cheshire has stopped for the time being.Β  There was quite a decent amount . I have just emptied all the water trays and such that were nurturing a lot of plants in danger of frying. The water in the trays was poured into the watering cans.
    waste not want not.Β
