Out this morning and found I had missed a flower, so this is what these male looking ones turn into. Totally different than my male green courgette flowers, but similar to the female ones on the greens.
Looks a bit frillier than the male flowers on my courgettes ... a bit like the flowers on the pattypan squashes I grew the other year ... maybe some of the cross-breeding that has been done to produce a yellow fruit has some more 'squash' type ancestry ... I'd be happy to wait and see what I get ... however it may be that there was some cross-pollination at the seed producers' field and sometimes this can result in a bitter tasting fruit ... if this is the case at least you've got a photographic record to show them.

Well goodness me so it is ... if I'd seen it looking like that earlier ... that doesn't look like a courgette plant .... quite exciting really .... give it a good dose off tomato feed and keep us informed ....
No, the plant doesn't look like my courgettes or squash either, so it will be interesting to see just what (if anything) comes of this plant purplerallim.
hmm 3 petals? and a lovely pretty flower. If you just showed me the plants I would think cucumber with those leaves and tendrils but the flower is way to large. I will just have to wait with you and everyone else to see what it is.
WE HAVE DEVELOPMENTS!!! @Dovefromabove, @Guernsey Donkey2 and @Skandi. Out this morning taking off more male flowers( they still keep coming) and this has grown. Next to it on the leaf is a removed male flower, but this is definitely a fruit. It looks more squash than courgette, will I have any problems with it being three foot off the ground as have never grown more than cucumbers and courgettes before. All help gratefully received.
