More waves of envy coming your way, FG - you're so lucky to have hedgehogs. And Hosta too. Actually, thinking about it I know quite a few people who've got hedgehogs for the first time - perhaps the drought is making them break cover more?
Warm shower this morning - it actually felt quite odd (pleasant though). Amazing how quickly one can get used to something. Four days of cold showers and it felt normal.
Hope you can stay warm, Pat. I honestly had no idea Australia could get so cold until reading your posts.
Going to make the most of a cooler day to do a few bits & pieces in the garden. Hot again tomorrow.

There are ancient quarry sites round here, now filled with water but this quarry has only been going since the early 50s apparently. We are about 45metres above sea level and it's deepest point is 0m at the mo. It'a just under 2kms away as the crow flies and to the north west of us so we don't get the noise except when a siren goes off to signal an imminent explosion. I think I've only heard that once tho. They've developed a new, added value use for their stones in collaboration with a local company so all good for employment.
Main problem for me is laden lorries leaving the site without looking to see if anything's coming from our direction but that will all change if they go ahead and develop the new stock area and entrance. There are zones of natural importance for flora and fauna now in the deepest bit (water) but the land they'll develop is just the original dumping site for top soil and "schist" so they'll displace a few birds and wild boar but will avoid the nesting season. Must get some owl boxes up in the barn, just in case.
Thrilled for those boys and their families and all the people who helped. Not so thrilled about the football as OH not too pleased but he's taking it out hoeing up dead weeds in the drive so that's fine.
More sunshine here. Storms forecast for Sunday evening - just in time for friends from Belgium to arrive. Oh dear.
Hope all are well. Hedgehogs too.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hi Obelixx and LG. LG, we live in the region called the Snowy Mountains, so there are ski slopes etc in the area where people come for winter “fun”. We expect to be cold in winter. 🙄 Not that it stops us whingeing.
Morning all. Horrible night, hardly any sleep. I'm very grumpy, and very achy. I took down 18 trees yesterday in the wood. Tall, stupidly thin, alder removed to let the oak and hornbeam have more light and space. The theory is this space will be a big Hosta garden, but the drought this year , combined with mole activity has given me some cause for doubt. Our wee Spikey very obligingly comes between about 9.30 and 10.00 so I get to watch "him" having supper before I go to bed.
Very sorry to hear that the Dr who spent so much time with the trapped kids has found out that his father died while the last 4 were being rescued. I feel very sorry for him.
Thanks Joyce and Obelixx for Hubby birthday wishes. He is currently stuffing himself with chocolate hot cross buns that I dug out of the freezer.🤪 we are watching China from above. Interesting.
Back from tennis ... that's loosened my back up a bit ... I'd had a bit of sciatica last night and this morning, but some stretching exercises and a few lunges after balls seems to have eased it.
Still overcast here and a bit muggy ... OH is on his way into the city ... he has to wear black trousers and shes for work ... he has none that are suitable ... at this rate he'll have spent more than he earns in the first week.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
