Afternoon all. The weather has finally graced us: and it was amazing yesterday driving through the country lanes and noticing, even after a few hours, the verges were starting to green up.

My butternut squash seems to be making a mad rush for it over the past week. It seems to have been sitting there happily not really doing much. Its almost as if its been watching twitter and seeing the pictures others have been putting up of their pumpkins coming on nicely.

Oddly since I planted four butternut squash and two pumpkins they all seem to be looking exactly the same so now I'm doubting my sanity.

The chillies however look a little more promising. If only I hadn't lost the note with which types I'd planted! Still Purple Riot is obvious and the others will be a case of bite it and see.

Today is very much a duvet day: the hound is fast asleep on the sofa and I'm meant to be trying to write articles to have as an emergency reserve but I'm rather drawing a blank at the moment.

Steady drizzle since 9 am. Long may it continue. I can almost see the garden sucking it up.
The lawn hasn't been mown for  weeks now. Interesting what is coming up among the brown. Where I cut down the 6 ft tall  chicory and throw it on the lawn is a patch of short chicory in flower, about 6 inch tall. I noticed someone elses lawn with a purple patch of prunella. My  birds foot trefoil seems to have disappeared altogether. I was hoping to spread it through the lawn.
The perfect lawns around are just boring brown.

We've got a patch of achillea in the front 'lawn' ... very odd 'cos achillea just won't grow in the front bed, only in the back one .... contrary beggar lol

That's because it's a "lawn" Dove and not a lawn!

Did some dead heading and tidying this morning, then it got too hot.

My Liatris are just coming into flower,  around 2/3’ tall.
Just stopped raining in Cornwall we were going out but not worth it, nothing worse than walking around seaside towns in the rain! ( well, there probably is😀)

We had some rain  :) not torrents, but I'm grateful for whatever we can get. Half the butts are full now - which is a big improvement on where we were this time yesterday. Still breezy. We went up to Exmoor this morning to walk the dogs before the tourists were awake. Some small branches down but nothing too drastic that I saw. Just some cheerful looking ponies - think they've been finding it hard to find decent forage.

@Dovefromabove I have a similar problem with grass. It grows everywhere except it in the few places I want it. I lost most of my achilleas to The Beast  :(

Hi, just glanced back. You have all been busy but I think we are all happy and have had some rain
it started here on Friday night and hasn’t stopped. We were up at friends near Loch Lomond last night and you couldn’t see in front of your nose.  Felt so sorry for all the campers   Midges inevitable follow rain up there.
If the forecast is to be believed for us it will brighten up on Tuesday I am preparing for the growth spurt that will follow!

Another hot and steamy day in Namur made all the more joyful by the Tour de Wallonie finishing today.  Why they schedule such a race at the same time as the Tour de France is beyond me but the finishing line was down the road from Possum's new front windows so very noisy with hospitality tents and booming base form synthesized breast bone trembling "rhythms".   Not music.  All roads to the centre closed off so I had to negotiate my way in to get the last load from the old place and sweet talk martials to let me past to unload.    Just as well i'm good at reversing down narrow roads.

Dinner in the oven now.  Possum in the shower.   Blood test, commune (council) bank and key handover tomorrow then, all being well, home on Tuesday.   Cosmos is missing his mum apparently and going to OH for cuddles on the sofa - which he never does normally.    Minstrel is busy and the dogs are barking.

No appreciable rain here tho a few drops fell and one or two places have had storms.   Trees dying all over the place in towns and gardens but not, as far as I can see, out in the countryside.   My gardening friends are crying out for rain.  None since mid May.

Hope everyone's keeping cool.   Haven't seen any news or TV for days so no idea what's going on anywhere.
