@LG_ I would prescribe: Thick gloves, deep breath, hurl the rat.

Then go and have a nice cool shower and if you've got some good moisturiser, - especially one with a woody or 'green' fragrance, like lavender or sandalwood - apply some to the driest bits - elbows and knees and ankles - and also across your collar bone. Loose clothes, natural fibres. Then a long cool drink and a good book somewhere in the shade for a few hours, if you can.
Either that or go for a swim if there's a Lido near you, or a walk along the river.
    Hope for some rain tonight.

There's nowhere to hurl it, @raisingirl - neighbours all around. I may hurl myself in the process, however... Going to have to bury it (even though I know they'll probably dig it up). The thought of it in a bag in the bin is even worse.

The temperature here is not too bad at the moment - there's some cloud cover. Just no moisture in the air at all. I will moisturise but it's almost like I need moisturising from the inside out as well! I am drinking plenty. Water - not moisturiser!

@LG_, hive will be looked after for me, but I get some honey and the pleasure of more bees in the garden.

Can you double wrap it in plastic and put it in the bin?

Have you been getting into trouble with the law Punkdoc?  I saw a post it said "language on the forum" I though oho, who has been swearing! Very excited been raining a couple of hours here, only very fine, orchids outside (and all the other houseplants) having a lovelly shower, still very warm though.

Rat dealt with. The vomit emoji is inadequate for my purposes.

Though I suppose, while the foxes have revolting habits, at least they seem to be despatching with rats.

Re The Byrds quote [or rather Bob's quote] - I love Joni's - 'we look like our mothers did, now, when we were those kids' age' from Chinese Cafe.
I still can't forgive The Byrds for Mr Tambourine Man.... :/
The rain has stopped here now - lovely bit of moisture overnight and this morning. Lighter than we would normally have, and no wind, but 'everywhere' is grateful for it.
doc - I take it the police were less than helpful then?
Bite the bullet LG - as r'girl says  - grab and wrap and bin. Then treat yourself afterwards  :D
I'd better have some lunch. Anyone got anything? Spam?..... ;)

I think the best version of the song, is from the 30th. anniversary concert for Bob Dylan. it has many greats on it including: Tom Petty, Neil Young and George Harrison.
No the Police did not help, but perhaps it is not within their remit.
