I think you're right Dove [re the law] but it 's a combination of horror and making us laugh that she does it. It's a running joke. She used to say 'I need to go and get my butcher meat' a few days before she went! I'd love to see the faces on staff if they ever opened up one of her cases!    :D

Morning Fairy and Dove. Our quarantine laws are very strict here, but there are always people who try to bring things in. I must admit I was rather upset when a friend said he’d brought plant seeds in through the consular bag. He worked for one at the time. I wouldn’t be surprised if that loophole had been spotted.
Banning hosepipes in gardens is common in our cities. But I think most people expect it with our dry country.  We are lucky having our bore but we don’t abuse the privilege  like some I could name in the village who leave their sprinklers going all night. 😖
We’ve had a cloudless day again, freezing start, expected rain did not appear. Hubby has had to replace a split pipe that goes to one of our garden taps.

    G'day Pat  :)

I had a colleague who went to Spain several times a year. Each time she went she packed two roasted chickens wrapped in foil and plastic in her suitcase because foreign food didn't suit her!  She always came back with stories of her tummy troubles, explaining that despite trying to stick to her own food she must somehow have eaten something foreign.  :/

Heaven forbid we should ever eat anything 'foreign'  - eh Dove?  :D
Pat - there's always the selfish people who never think of anyone else. I have to agree with you about seeds etc. I think we need to be stricter these days. We're all grateful to the plant hunters who have brought us so many beautiful specimens from all over the world, but it's time to review it I reckon.

You’ve reminded me of an experience we had for Rolf’s 80th birthday. There were about 20 people and we went to the Lebanese restaurant in town and everyone started pigging out with all the wonderful kebabs, breads, dips etc, but one wife ordered Vienna schnitzel. There are some strange people around here.!!!
that reminds me, I wrote that Regina’s mother has an 80 th birthday next weekend, but it is her 90 th. Very strong willed women. I think her daughter takes after her.😳

Would never have room for tins or chickens (😳😱) in my suitcase .....too many books and shoes 📚👠.......never one for travelling light 😉. Eating out is half the fun 😀

The words “hosepipe ban” in the headlines struck fear into my heart 💔.  Not a profligate user, but a couple of hours with the hosepipe once a week is the only thing thats keeping my borders alive.  With a chickletless house atm, all I am doing is using the water they would have used in the shower.  Plus we are metered, so I’m paying for it.  Hoping we get some rain soon, but forecast says NO.  Oh dear 😢

Pat - clearly it's a worldwide 'thing' then - nowt so queer as folk!
I've just read that one of Trump's secret service agents had a stroke on Sunday at Turnberry [all that square sausage....] Our wonderful NHS staff took care of him.
What was that about Obamacare Mr President? Your silence is deafening.... :D

    Hi all.

    We were in Gairloch @Fairygirl.
    Get well soon @WonkyWomble.
Lovely start to the day, just been watching a song thrush bash the living daylights out of a snail.

    Morning all.

    Hope you're feeling better, Wonky.

I'm enjoying a brief respite from the heat. It's sunny but there's a breeze and it's only in the high teens at the mo. 24 later, but that'll feel cool in comparison to yesterday. Who'd've thunk it?

I missed whatever you did, Yvie (maybe a sponsored walk?) - but I'll add my congrats anyway!

The guinea pigs have gone home. I'd got rather used to their chuntering.

    Morning all.
We've got the merest sprinkling of wet stuff falling as we speak. Enough to dampen laundry , but not doing much good TBH. Better than nowt.
Steephill, I've just had to google East Prawle, you'd have been safe, it's miles out of our area.  ;)
