I usually use the 'no notifications' choice and then when I want to follow a particular thread I bookmark it to get them for that thread.   I don't think that sends emails though, just a pop-up when I open this board.

Hill fire update: Over a week later and it hasn't stopped smoking. Now the fire has flared back up again with wind blowing towards the beech wood :/  There's smoke pouring from the hilltop and no sign of the forecasted rain yet. A helicopter flies over a couple of times a day to scan the ground though so they're keeping an eye on it.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Oh dear! I lived very near to flats, what a great shame.  I keep looking out for Dartmoor, had a fire a few years ago.
They used to deliberately burn the bracken off, as a regular occurrence but not allowed now.

It could have been some daft bugger have a bbq, but it's so dry that it takes nothing to start. A lot of the area is a nature reserve. :/

I know, it’s hard to imagine a really heavy down pour now. But that’s what it needs.
