"If you have the urge, the best way to get rid of temptation is to give in to it."

Amen. Once you see the level of drama members happily buy into, and the endless reams of time it takes up, it's very easy to pass.  There is absolutely no obligation to get into a barney with anyone, or even read the more theatrical threads.

Hubby has been to see the dietician today. It might have been useful if she wasn't the same weight as him, but 9 inches shorter. She also thought it was OK to eat rice, pasta and bread, but not butter. She recommended a hydrogenated fat margarine instead.
So she's not up to date with the recommendations for prediabetics then.   That was a waste of a morning then.  Strangely , his blood results are good, and his weight is down 7 kg, despite his lack of exercise since going over the handlebars of his bike.
I think next time he is invited in for a talk, he might decline.

Just back from visiting Mum, in time to contribute to this thread.  Boarded the local train in Leeds to complete my journey home, and sat down with a sigh of relief.  HELLO MUM!  bellowed a young Texan man into his mobile - and proceeded to enlighten all the passengers in the carriage (in addition to his Mum across the pond) as to the most quaint and amusing things to do in Scarborough.  He was so loud we couldn't hear the conductor's announcement.   :#

Reading back, I have this vision of Hostafan gliding around a slate floor in stockings.

Last time I came across a child with a temper tantrum, I bent over so we were face to face, yelled SHUT UP at the top of my voice, and peace resumed.  Cue child with rabbit in the headlights look. The mother didn't even look embarrassed.

We had a screech outside on the road earlier. I was waiting for the crunch that usually follows.  By the time we got to the door, no sign of a car. It did leave 50 yards of tyre marks that looked like it was "back to the future" and a strong smell of burning rubber.  My next house will not be on a main road.

Really? Wow. Impressive. A random child?

This has would have me ruffling my list of local hit persons. Beyond rude. Unbearable. I've got off buses and trains if I can't get away from booming bores.

My blue Hawaian shirt with exuberant white flowers now has white flowers with a definite pink tinge. Don’t you hate it when something runs in the wash? I can’t decide if the shirt is redeemable but the towels will have to go.

Don't you love a Hawaiian shirt?  I feel a new thread coming on. I'll take photos.
