@Picidae - we told the school that we were disappointed, but didn't get much in the way of an apology... and our daughter really didn't want us to make a fuss...
@punkdoc@Hostafan1 - exactly! The world needs musicians and artists as well as web designers, midwives, rocket scientists and dustmen.
@wild edges - I'm with you on inappropriate tributes. Even real flowers, unless they are removed when they die...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
@NewBoy2 Tap on the little cog at the very top right of this page. Tap on 'edit profile' Second on the displayed list is 'notifications'. Turn them all off by tapping on the ticks.
@NewBoy2 It's so easy, even I can do it. Click on the white cog at the far right of the black box at the very top of the page. Click on "Edit profile" Click on "notification preferences" then add / remove ticks from the boxes to get what you want. Go on, go on , go on. As Mrs Doyle would say.
I drive on little B- roads in the country. Almost every bad bend has a little shrine to some dead speeder. Doesn't slow the youngsters down any but it means that when I'm hauling a ^%^& dopey teenager out of her written-off car I can point at it and say 'what do you think happened here before you came round it broadside at 70mph?!?!?!' That's not all I said. She was six weeks past her test and on her third accident. Half a minute sooner and I'd have been the collateral damage and not the stone wall she hit.
@Newboy2 .... Go to Recent Discussions ... find this thread ... to the right of the title you'll see a solid star ... click on it ... it should then be just the outline of a star ... that will remove it from your bookmarks and you should stop getting notifications about it.

Then you must have ticked the option of 'Notify me when people comment on threads I've participated in' in your Notification Preferences in Settings.
I find that gives me too many notifications, so I've not ticked that fourth one ... I've ticked the top three for Pop Ups, and the bottom fifth one for Pop Ups and Emails ... gives me the best result I think.
