Chris Evans? £2m a year? For someone so bloomin' odious.? Ego the size of Botswana? I guess it is an aggregate indicator of what we collectively value.  £2m to stop UK nightingales becoming extinct and Daily Mailers rise up in arms. No wonder we are screwed.

Not knowing any slebs is really quite unnerving. If I was 90, it would feel more ok, but as an almost-youngling it feels ... disenfranchising somehow. I no longer really have a stake in TV, nor care. It's not really aimed at me or most people I know. Which is good as it frees us from it, but a bit of a loss as I used to love it.

I hear teens and twenty-somethings in the loop saying they have no idea who these touted celebs are, which is a bit heartening. Maybe it's not to do with age. I wonder if media culture is so wide, moving so fast and has such a high turnover than nobody can keep up. Even the kidz.

It's not just TV now that you get slebs.  There's loads of them on the Internet who have millions of followers (they say) that I wouldn't know if they kicked me in the bum.

Most of the programmes are made up of general public, cookery,  quiz shows, other people’s rubbish, usually from a bootfare or attic, that doesnt cost   the BBC much more than a free lunch and coffee.

And trailers for sport. And highlights of sport. And sport on the news. Cheap TV for the beeb - someone else is paying the sports people and it all happens at defined times in fixed locations of finite size. They don't even have to pay script writers. They just pay the pundits silly money to sit in a studio and waffle. Endlessly.

Why do the goodies in films never sweat below the forehead unless they have their shirts off?
