I'm glad there was an up side to yesterday @chicky. Nice to be able to take away something positive.
I'm not sure we've had a "drought" but it's been very dry here for about 5 weeks. The lake is almost a foot below the overflow pipes and the storm drains have totally dried up too.

    Good morning all  :) G'day Pat  :)
I think the topknot suits you @Hostafan1 and it's tidy and if girls can put their hair up ...?  Enjoy the comments  ;)
    I told you we'd bring you fine weather didn't I ? B)
Chicky, glad yesterday was ok and that you'll be seeing more of Norfolk. 'Conny' seeds have been sown and put in a quiet corner.  :)
Must get a move on this morning ... got to get into the city for a haircut and some shopping.

Home at last from our trip to Canberra today. What a drag it is.  I’m exhausted as anticipated. Anyway, we have passed all tests with the ophthalmologist, so next visit isn’t for 6 months for him and 12 months for me.
The house is very cold now, but at least we’ve had a chance to get some ash out before stoking the fire up again.  Expecting snow tonight. It’ll be interesting to see if it comes as far as our place. I think it’ll mostly be up on the ski slopes.

Morning, glad you home safe Pat and trip had good results
Chicky there is often a bitter/sweet side to funerals I think that’s all part of the grieving process. Enjoy having youngest home
Hosta a side we didn’t know about! How smart!
    Punk how you doing?
to everyone else I have missed apologies but bit of a rush on here this morning. Son and family arriving on 10.30 flight, hector allowing.  The baby is walking now so child gates to be put up. Elder gd is desperate to see the fairy garden and I think the fairies might be a bit messy and need a hand tidying up!

It's to take to patchwork group tomorrow MrsG.  I had 4 very ripe bananas so there's another which I may freeze or I may give to the neighbours at no 3 who have yet to try a proper British cake.   The cattle farmers at no 7 had a Borrowdale tea bread to tempt them when they had flu earlier in the year and loved it.
I have a cappucino and walnut cake to make for MILs birthday at the weekend. My son and his PA (carer) made it last time and she loved it, hope my version passes the test.

A bit too much to catch up on for me!

Chicky, so sorry to hear your sad news, hope you have some wonderful memories. x

Left OH 'working from home' on Monday - and expecting delivery of greenhouse! I kept getting photos of rain (18 in all!). When I got home all the garage content were on the drive, OH ankle deep in water. Worse still - greenhouse hadn't been delivered!

    Hi all.
Saw this picture of a house extension in Penzance, rather liked it.

    Morning all.
Garden has had a good soak from the rain.  Storm Hector is battering every thing. Woke up frequently during the night with the noise of the wind through the trees. It's expected to continue until after lunch which is when I will venture out to see if there are broken branches etc.

LilyP, hope you didn't get the brunt of the storm and that flight isn't cancelled.

Hector is blowing hard here but no rain. The 'thrown in and not secured' clematis support has blown over, serves me right, but clem warszarska nike is intact.
