I hope Moira finds a job soon, one that she's happy with.

    Morning all.

There is some sunshine this morning but we are off to the Pyrenees for the weekend, retreat in a monastery in a beautiful setting. Think I need a break, feel knackered, slept very badly and baby grandson woke up 1 1/2 hours earlier than they said he would. Son and DIL live in town, I'm not used to traffic noise and people shouting in the night.

Did I say I was babysitting 3 small grandsons last night? Son and DIL have gone to watch the Paris tennis and they couldn't find anyone to stay the night, they have a daytime Nanny. The one who is nearly 3 howled and howled when Daddy left, finally slept at 10pm. But he was quite cheerful this morning. My daughter is taking over for the weekend.

A retreat for the weekend sounds like just what you need BL. Hope you feel refreshed after it.

Oooh BL ... much as you love them when you're a bit older it's hard to remain cheerful when they deprive you of sleep  :/  The weekend retreat sounds perfect  :)

I've planted out 20 sweetcorn plants ... I had to take some lettuces and radishes round to NDN and we'll be eating lots of the same today ...  I still had to plant some in between lettuce plants and rather closer to the runner beans than I had intended ... that's what happens when you get 100% germination and @WonkyWomble looks after them so well  :dizzy:

Now I've got to find room for some tomato plants that I'd planned for and some PSB that I hadn't planned for but Wonky had grown for us  :D    I'd better get some insect netting too ....

    Happy June everyone!   :)

Hope you persuade Moira to take a break, Punkdoc.  What's the use of money if it just sits in the bank?  Hope she finds the right job for her talents.

Best wishes to all bears with sore heads!  Hope BL and Obelixx manage to conquer their exhaustion... apart from anything else, it's really hard to sleep well when the weather is so "close".

The Park volunteer group has been busy in the past week, doing extra shifts because the Groundwork project (funded by the HLF grant) is coming to an end very shortly, and we need to make sure all the elements are finished ready for the opening of the Heritage trail.  We've been uncovering an old path, which has hand-carved, domed stone "turn-bys" to divert rain water coming down the hill.  Most of them were covered with turf and mud.  Now we need to spread 10 tons of gravel on some muddy bits.

This afternoon a couple of us are doing a bit of archaeology in the area of the Holy Well, which we uncovered recently.  More walling is due to be completed in the next couple of weeks, and we don't want them to cover up any treasures not yet exposed to view.  Should be fun...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Hi everyone. Still freezing here. 1.2 ml rain. Son arrived. I sat and knitted ALL day. (Not exactly what my Dr expects). Maybe tomorrow.
in bed now and snuggled under lots of bedclothes.
    night all.

  • It's raining here.  :'(   It's only a smurr but I'm missing the sun already. Two whole days with my top on......I'll look like the duke of spook soon if this keeps up.

Why can't it rain at night and be sunny during the day?  If there really was a deity then that's what would happen. :(

     That's assuming he/she was a benevolent one ...

@TBG, rain hasn't got this far. I have just soaked a long shady border with the hose as the astilbes were curling up.

  • @Dovefromabove  Very true. Well I reckon she must be a tyrant, old mother nature, no benevolence in spoiling my summer tan!  :D

@Joyce21 It really is a very light smurr, probably get wetter when it is misty in all honesty.......I'm just having a moan because I was fair enjoying all this good weather. :)
