Hi Pat sorry for the delay but happy birthday, we are still waiting for rain, and today our dustbin workers are going back to work, only trouble is when on strike they tip all the rubbish in the town centre and this time they broke down the new bus shelters. Enjoyyour wedding tomorrow Dove we have 7 more sleeps for grandaughter comes home from china.Hope PDoc is feeling betterand everyone enjoys their weekend.
Thanks Glenys I'll have to see if OH will take a pic of me in my finery
Lots of watering done today 'cos it's not going to happen tomorrow. Lovely OH did the recently planted cosmos and other stuff in the front garden, and I put the sprinkler on the sweetcorn and runner beans for a good soak.
Supper tonight was a frittata sort of thing ... leftover new potatoes from yesterday, a skinned orange pepper, a large tomato peeled, cored and chopped, some thawed frozen peas and two of the lovely zucchini from our garden. They are zucchini and not courgettes because they're this variety https://www.sarahraven.com/veg_fruit/se ... anesco.htm ... it's the first time I've grown them and at this rate I'll definitely grow them again ... lovely healthy plants, no mildew so far, very productive, slim firm fruits not at all cotton-woolly with a really good flavour.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
They sound tasty, Dove. I decided not to grow courgettes this year after 2 horribly wet summers when all the fruit rotted, or got gnawed by squirrels. Pity, because this year has been ideal for them...
Everyone needs a garage/loft for keeping things which, in my mum's words, might come in handy one day. Our previous house had a large turnip shed attached, which was just fab.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Having spent most of summer 2016 sorting out our attic for the move we have deliberately bought a house without one. On the other hand, we have a double garage space/car port thingy currently full of rust waiting to be treated and plants waiting to be potted on or divided. There's also a "cave" between the annex and the garden shed where we have an oil tank and lots of storage.....
Pottered indoors till after 3pm to give my pink bits a rest then went and tackled the shade bed. 7 more hosta wrecks rescued and plonked in pots to recover and loads of cr*p weeded out. Had a good hack at overhanging branches too. Spaces filled by splitting up two big pots of that Japanese imperial grass planted in a curving ribbon and a block of golden carex. Not keen on grasses really but they should be immune to the snails.
Dogs walked, fed and flopped. I need to go and water all the pots again as this wind is very drying. Then I shall enjoy a glass of wine and some dinner.
Enjoy your wedding tomorrow Nooj. Hope everyone has a good weekend, starting now.

What a lovely evening. Sitting in warm lovely sunshine, looking at the garden, listening to OH bang nails in the shed/greenhouse combi. Birds in good voice too but a bit of competition with OH. There's a plant sale at the local botanical gardens on Sunday (or is it Saturday? PDOC will prob know!). Might pop there while OH watches football.
Hello everyone. Lovely cloudless day here after an start of minus 8.4 c. Are you awake Hosta. Perhaps you’d like to swap! 😬
Glenys, sounds as though your garbage people need help!
Ive been having a bit of a giggle this morning thinking about birthdays. I always tell the family not to buy gifts ........ but
A friend sent me Derwent Inktense crayons which need to be wetted to activate the strong colours. Me no complain, but I really prefer my palette of Windsor & Newton water colours and my choice of brushes, better yet, my huge set of Faber Castell Polychromos pencils.
My son decided that he’d heard me complain about not being able to see clearly when knitting in the evening, so he bought me two sets of knitting needles which have a battery in the ends and the tips light up. Trouble is they are large sizes and I’d need to use twelve ply yarn to use them. 🤫
Then Hubby presented me with two rose plants in tightly wrapped plastic bags. My problem is that my garden beds are already crammed full and I’m pretty sure the roots wouldn’t like being plonked into frozen soil. 🤦♀️
I know, I know. Should be grateful, but sometimes I wonder why people don’t believe me when I say I have all I need. AND, don’t buy chocolates, I’ve already got my GP chasing me for sugar consumption. 🤪😀😀😀😀😀😀
Morning Pat. Yes , I'm awake. My sister worked for Windsor and Newton for over 25 years until they upped sticks and moved to France. (W&N, not my Sister )
