Yesterday managed to get my snowdrops planted - front garden, moved the daff bulbs in that I’d left in the ground and put the tulips in as well - I know it’s early but time waits for no man ;)

put down the lawn weed killer/feed/seed mix same as spring.

added to my container a few orange and purple violas

Planted up 4 tubs for spring, tulips, hyacinths and wallflowers.
Still got a lot of wallflowers left.

Planted up 1 pot of narcissus and 3 pots of tulips. Also potted up a phormium that l grew from seed 2.5 years ago. Very impressed by the root system. Planted out an agastache "Sangria " from a pot into the ground - l hope it would be more likely to survive the winter there.

Finished putting bulbs in garden this afternoon
Put new tulips in 2 big pots , in green house at moment need to get chicken wire from allotment
Emptied last years pots that Squirrel  🐿 attacked , more bulbs left than I thought but now need more compost to pot them up

  • After volunteer day at Capel yesterday not got going yet. Heading to Allotments to see what havoc the wind may have done. It's always windy on our plots so even though we are not in the direct path of the storm we can expect some disruption to netting etc.
    AB Still learning

  • I hope you didn't have any damage Allotment Boy - the strong winds have reached us too, luckily still very mild and sunny though.
Here we have picked up fallen pine cones, re-staked a couple of tall plants that have loosened in the wind and raked up the mowed grass from our wild flower area.

Went around the garden checking for damage. Agastache had a couple of stems snapped off and the grapevine lost a small section, otherwise not too bad. Cleared dead leaves from hostas. Weather is weird, now getting really dark, wind getting up again, but it is so mild.

Relieved that you didn't have too much damage AnniD.
Here we had a social able morning feeding extra at the table for lunch so morning taken up with prep work (squash & veg soup etc) and time for coffee with visiting friends.
During the afternoon we took down 9 of our bird boxes - old nests in 6 or them - just one unhatched egg so far - more boxes to remove and clean out next week.

Looked at the fallen leaves, I only raked them all up the other day. Decided to leave some more to come down, and spent time cutting down the majority of our viticella clematis. Stood and smelled the C. terniflora for ages, while tying in a few stems. It is my first experience of growing this, hope I do not regret getting it in the longer term.
So many flowers on the winter ones already. Bumblebee feeding on them.

Sorry for the folks who have had damage.
