Some of my little sweetcorn have started popping up through the soil, did bit of potting on honesty from border, phlomis and seed sowing - sunflowers for plant sale in May at spring fayre - few weeks time hoping they all grow and root a bit by then, watched the running on TV today as well
Went to plot today did some digging up of J artichokes to give away as I put an advert in freecycle and got 2 people wanting them - so that has cleared a small bit of ground - still more coming up where thought I had cleared - small bits in ground had rooted, re covered small shed roof plastic - still bit windy out today after storm Hannah
The allotment thread seems to have reduced down to three regular posters should we relaunch under a different name to encourage allotmenteers and fruit and veg growers, what do you guys think....GWRS and Gg....
Why not give it a go , particularly as G/W seem to be having an allotment slot with that young lady , sorry forgot her name From a wet and windy Tenby ps. Have to go to a pub with WiFi , such hardship 🍺
Went to the plot today to open GH door. I've started to harden off toms, chillies and peppers for the GH. It was warm here so put them all outside.
Did some potting up - maincrop pea's, beetroot and broccoli. Sowed coriander and runner beans. I've never been this organised before or had so much planted out. Stuff which I hadn't expected to tolerate cold are doing well, a red lettuce variety and red spinach both beginning to romp away.
Lots of asparagus tips are showing, I'm cutting the tips as they appear, this is the third year so hoping for a good crop. They are ever so nice steamed.
Zoomer , new name suggestion “ Allotment Gardening “ ? Our asparagus was coming up nicely as well , o/h , some times raps it with Parma ham and grates some cheese on it , however , as you say it just nice steamed with butter
