Another couple of hours at allotment this afternoon , 3 beds weeded and covered in weed membrane
Picked some beetroot, turnips and leeks
Have decided to keep doing a couple of hours every so often , as weather deteriorated, cold & wet

Have in previous winters lit a fire 🔥 if spending the day there , don’t mind the cold just the wet
  • Rent due soon will be getting bills soon going up 20p a rod again this year

Rules will be changing found out the other day you can have a sprinkler if you pay £25, From 1st November no new people will be allowed chickens unless approval was given before on 31st Oct so emailed council before then to see - cause I keep thinking about having chickens and filled out form took photo emailed back - so I can have them if I want now rather than not

Went to plot today has been a hard frost as cosmos had it - got some digging done, new area ready for broad bean seeds to go in, harvested more potatoes and cleaned out to bird houses some spiders in them

Went to Homebase Yesterday as closing down sale lots of good bits still, got some cucumber seeds 1/2 price, garden bag,  noticed they have a chicken coop and house there in sale so been thinking about that

Have any of you lot had chickens or have chickens?  how easy is it to look after them?

Personally we wouldn’t have chickens due to holidays etc as you need to visit them nearly everyday
Lots do have them at our site , only 6 chickens 🐓 allowed and feeders need to be Rat 🐀 proof

Another couple of hours at plot
Today cut down Jureslum Artichokes and put in huge pile for burning , this grows along one of the fences as a wind break and is at least 60 ft long , May dig a few up
O/H has been putting bark chippings on paths
    Not sure about next visit
  • GWRS dug up a few jureslum artichokes and had roasted in butter other day not bad still bit strange taste

Managed to get a pile of blue/purple and purple debris netting for free from building site around the road where a school was as asked before took down going to use some on plot and some for Woolston garden train station project - only a few holes and bits of render on which come off easy
