It got down to minus 2 in the garden last night - I fear for the plum blossom...

Is your plum blossom not out yet?
  • The cherry & apple blossom is out, not sure about the plums Fire. Cold here too, at least it is not raining the wind isn't too strong - we NEED warmth and sunshine here - seems that most of you do too.

(Glos) The answer to the thread's question is "November". Although the sun tried it's best, the wind is what can best be described politely as chilly. Put fleece over the plants in the greenhouse last night, temp only went down to 6 degrees in there, but l envisaged waking up at 2am and fretting about my babies! Supposed to be slightly chillier tonight, so l shall tuck them up again.
I see the forecast seems slightly optimistic for the weekend.

@Fire - yes, my plum blossom is out, but it's too cold for most of the bees... and frost removes the petals, or the tiny fruit if it's already set.

Clear blue sky this morning. Shame the garden is too waterlogged to even walk on the lawn. Borders are full of water; the joy of having clay soil.

Stockton the Riviera of the North, yes sunshine and warm at 9c could rise as the sun gets high in the sky. Seen all this before many years ago we will have poor harvests of fruit this year. The trees are tough and will recover, like all gardeners you take the loss shrug and get on with it.

  • The next time I complain about the weather I must remember we dodged 2 bullets yesterday. On Saturday the weather forecast said over 50mm of rain would fall on Monday. In the end we got just under 3mm. Secondly, the temperature last night fell to 0.9c, but thankfully no frost and no damage. Lucky escapes, though I could have done with the water butts filling up a bit.

A fairly nice day here although rain is threatening from the south west later this evening. So dry all day, quite a lot of sunshine and not too cold for a good bit of gardening and drying clothes.
