I've been off this week doc Growing 'Cathy' which I've had before, Beaujolais likewise, and a couple of new ones - Burnished Bronze and Blackberry. Not received B'berry & Cathy yet but should be soon. I had Dorothy Eckford [white] which I grew last year, but I laid the pack down beside me and a breeze caught it and they all disappeared into the gravel path. I found 2 but no chance of finding any more. B***er! I don't sow mine deep though LP - about half an inch or so.

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Another beautiful day. Didn't feel up to gardening, but sitting out was glorious [ not a pleasant sight though, I had shorts on ], you could almost see the plants growing. Takeaway tonight, I can't be bothered cooking, and i am sure OH won't want to.

I misread that doc - thought it was your pants that were growing...
I finished my painting, although reaching the top of the fence is tricky. I look a bit like this when I'm desperately trying to reach with my right hand.....

Nature is a funny thing. Last year my strawberry bed went a bit wild, and I never got around to thinning them out.. and I suppose part of me hoped that twice as many plants would equal twice as many fruit. Instead they were overcrowded and under-performing. Of course. But this winter the garden voles did a number on the entire bed.. eating the rhizomes of over 60% of the plants. Now they are nicely thinned out.. and I was able to transfer a few rogue babies from last years runners into any gaps. If I had been on top of it, and had them properly thinned out.. I probably won't have a single plant left. I'm sure there is a moral there somewhere.
Snap Doc. Two hours to go through endless scanning of Belgian, British and French paperwork to get a govt scheme loan for energy saving projects just about finished me off so I've bared my legs in the sun too, to the not so mellow lowing of pregnant cows in Luc's barn at the back of the potager.
Cake baking now. Carrot, apple, cinnamon and pistachio cake in the oven and now debating between coconut rough cake or choc/raspberry brownies for the third. No takeaway here unless we want pizza - no thanks - so I shall rustle up some spicy prawn noodles later.
I have 3 small window boxes of strawberry plants desperate to be planted out but it's been so wet we haven't made any of the new beds I need in the potager. However, Minstrel is already on parade re meeces and voles down there. She's a clever puss and has learned to dive under the weed suppressing fabric where they go to hide.

Hello folks ... we're home ... had a lovely visit with old friend and his partner who we'd not met before ... partner is into gardening and they have a lovely if overgrown country cottage couple of acres so plant swaps have been arranged.
Now we're bushed and flollopped on the sofa ........ I'll catch up with what's been going on here a bit later ... or maybe tomorrow .....
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Glad you had a good day Dove. I'm relaxing too - although I need to do my exercises soon. Meant to say Obelixx - your cake recipe [ginger & marmalade etc] sounded lovely. I could shift one of those in a sitting.... Just as well Kitty gave me some virtual grapes the other day - much healthier

Evening everyone. Sounds like the weather is being pretty kind to everyone.
Had a fair bit of indoor admin to do today but went and bought a couple more oxygenators for the pond and an Osmunda regalis for the edge. Mowed the lawn too, but it's only a little one. Kids took themselves off to a lido with friends after school... they're growing up.
I could get used to this weather.

Evening. Fab weather here too. Did quite a bit in the garden whilst OH made a start on mending and re-grouting (cementing) some patio slabs and edging. I fancy that the green of the grass and some plants has changed to that lovely fresh bright green you see in Spring. I suppose it is the improving light that is making the chlorophyll go berserk. I hope you are all doing ok. Doesn’t feel like a Friday to me tonight, as been off all week.
