@Fairygirl , l saw him many years ago when he conducted the London Symphony orchestra,  l have always admired the way he didn't mind Morecombe and Wise taking the mickey out of him!
Back on topic, l am looking forward to the Torvill and Dean drama on Christmas Day, and also the Spy in the Snow programme on 30th, with the camouflaged cameras. I always enjoy their interaction with the animals .

I agree with you there, last night I watched Toms Midnight Garden.

Thanks for the tip about Morecambe and Wise.  That pair can make me laugh till I cry and their collaborations with some big stars are priceless.

Possum will be home for Xmas and NY and has plans for lots of films but anything with Johnny Depp will be watched without me.   Ditto Dr Who and the like.  There will be no midwives or eastenders either.

Let's hope there will be some good musicals, wildlife and a some mystery and mayhem.  Absolutely no politics.  I need a break.

As my 4 children, French spouses and 11 French/English grandchildren will be staying we probably won't watch TV. May watch the odd DVD with subtitles.

There's no Dr Who until the New year.
Won't watch much, don't know why we bother buying the christmas edition of the RT, never watch anything.

Having the Christmas RT is one of my little traditions, mainly as it brings back memories of our childhood family all marking off what they fancy to watch (My Dad did a ‘key’ for the coloured pens we used!). You could buy a tin of biscuits or a bottle of plonk for the same price though! So far I have spotted: Watership Down (new production), Luther (new series) and Call The Midwife (Christmas special).

We've a wee while to wait till Luther, AuntyR -[New Year] Not sure it's really Christmas fare anyway!  :D
I rarely watch anything of interest at night. Unless you like soap operas, and reality shows, there's usually sod all on then. If I can find Swan Lake or Nutcracker [ballet] I'll watch that, but it's hard to fit in during the day as I go to the cemetery, and then I'll be doing the dinner.

I try to find Singing in the Rain and/or Casablanca somewhere though. That's become a Christmas tradition in my house. I have them on DVD, but it's one of those weird things of watching it 'live'... ;)

Not a single thing on tonight so I think we might binge on "dynasties" as we missed them when on holiday.

If I had to rely on just the tv programmes I wouldn’t bother with it all, it’s only that we can have documentaries, as Hosta says, ballet and opera on sky arts that we stick with it, it’s a lot of money just for a few programmes.
I had  a look at daytime tv the other day, what is it now with either game shows, moving house or other people’s rubbish being sold, nothing worth watching at all.
I know it done for cheap and budget,  they just need to supply a lunch for contestants/participants and cost them next to nothing to produce.
