Yes @LG the TV series first aired in 96. But like you I also loved the book. I've read it twice. I might revisit his debut 'The Wasp Factory' sometime soon.

I've just watched the first programme and it's only Joe McFadden's recollections, none of the other actors (like it said in my TV magazine!) but really enjoyable nevertheless.

Oh dear. I can't believe I'm suggesting this (not my kind of thing at all!) but... The Traitors. All episodes so far are on iPlayer.

Detectorists is my happy place @Valleysgirl.... Learnt ballet and tap in that very scout hut... Drank in all those pubs as a teen and family friends were two of the ramblers in the last series..... So beautifully written and filmed... Such care taken... Such subtly that I notice something new every time I rewatch!
Makes all of Christmas worth while for me... Enjoy!
  • You have a real connection with the series then WonkyWomble , lucky you ! We’re on the same wavelength , Happy Boxing Day .

    Love the Detectorists ❤️

I sat my ‘O’ levels in that scout hut 😰 and had the first of many incidents with a vaulting horse 😱

Sadly it’s recently been demolished and replaced with something that doesn’t let the rain in.  I get the need, but it’s still sad that it’s not there 😢

As @WonkyWomble says … that was our old stamping ground … I know the insides of many of the houses we see … and the potato crates are from my brother’s farm 😆

@LG_ - we loved The Traitors too and like you don't normally go for reality TV but there was something fresh about it that gripped us.
