Allotment Boy ... I'm trying to hold off as we're away in mid May and the plan is for me to take my tomatoes and squashes etc to Wonky Womble to be babysat in her greenhouse for a couple of weeks while we're away, and I don't want them to be too big to fit in the car and be driven to Ipswich ... I know my car is a convertible, so I suppose I could take them with the top down ... as long as the weather is smiling at us by then  B)

Good afternoon.  OH got up early to go and get a haircut so no coffee in bed this am and, after yet another demanding cuddly Cosmos at 5:30 I fell asleep again around 7:30 and woke up 3 hours later.  That meant a late start to go water butt hunting but we have the two we ordered, at last, and then did our weekly raid on the SM.  I've given up trying to find a French wine that does what Oz wine does so we ended up having to do SMs.  Our usual Leclerc is very good at stocking local produce and then French and then EU.  Not Oz wine in sight.  However, the one that sells water butts does have red Oz but not white.  Odd.

It has been raining on and off all day and more of same expected tomorrow so indoors pottering for me.   Dry on Sunday which is good as we're off to a Puces de  couturières where I hope to find sewing doings.

Hosta - I hope your cold passes soon.  Pdoc - feeling better yet?   Pat - why on earth don't you tell the fire station people that waiting partners need more info and older volunteers need more consideration?  Seems unreasonable to me at the mo.

LG - hope you got your lawn done.   Joyce - yes, but we all know the weeds are in there stealing nutrients and possible swamping treasures but I sympathise with Busy.  Hate weeding when I'm not in the mood.   Dove - top down may just be too windy for tomato younglings?

    Afternoon all.
I've given up in the tunnel. It was lovely earlier when the sun was shining, but now we're back to rain.
2/3 of the beds are weeded so I can easily finish the rest tomorrow.

Hi all. I’m awake early, well it’s not yet 8am, so that’s early for me. Hubby left ages ago, don’t know the time. He has Regina with him again today. We’re hoping they won’t be needed tomorrow. Obelixx, it’s not clear who I could complain to. I’m sure all families feel the same. I just feel better offloading to you lot 😀
i keep hoping that Punkdoc is being looked after. ( I don’t mean his wife, I mean the medical people).

Pat - there must be someone in charge of communications with the fire teams and also responsible for calling volunteers in.  Start with them and work up.  I hope he's OK today.   You too.

Well done Hosta.   It did stop raining this pm but by then I was stuck into my sewing.

Off to the bank tomorrow.  Bloody OH went for a 9:30 appointment which I wouldn't want on a weekday, let alone a Saturday.   Supposed to be wet again too.

Went outside this afternoon and pruned roses.

A friend called round with a dozen eggs from her hens and bantams. I yanked (not easy) some yellow flag irises out of the pond for her. She has 3 ponds, all bigger than mine and cleared them all out last autumn, but I think she had help. My pond is a mess and the irises are taking over.

I wonder if Fairygirl will ever come back?

Yellow flag iris is a nightmare BL.   I was given a  small clump several years ago and it ended up clagging up our whole pond.   That's why I wanted a man with a digger to clear this pond - wanted none of that or bulrushes left behind.

I'd wanted a small blue one when I bought it but it was all there was in the GC. Hope my friend stays a friend!

Obelixx, in Hubby’s words - they couldn’t even run a chook raffle in there!
If I tried to ring the office today (Saturday), there would be no-one to answer the phone. There’s just the person on the two-way radio to the trucks out in the field. I suggested to Hubby that maybe those office workers could volunteer a roster in the office on the weekends when there are fires around. That got a good belly laugh. Volunteer! Them!
    😂😂😂.

ive been painting a bit in my art room, picked a large bunch of parsley which is now in the dryer, (5 trays of them) and boiled some eggs in case he has to go out again tomorrow. Easy food when you’re occupied on site. He also has a supply of “Health bars”.

There is light rain predicted but we really don’t think it’ll make any difference to the fire. It’ll probably just make the bush tracks slippery and less easy for the fire trucks to negotiate.

    Such is life! 👨🏻‍🚒
