Good morning all.  We have snow!  Rare occurrence round here so waking up to a whole inch of the stuff and more falling is a bit odd.   Doggies happy.  Pussies affronted.

Possum's first day of her internship yesterday.  OK so far but today she's got a very early start to get to an EFTA seminar.   That'll be an interesting experience for her..................   Having looked very suspicious at the handbag I made her that could hold her PC and her camera and normal stuff she's now put in a request for one with tailor-made modifications.   Cheek!

Hosta - I hope you get your oil early and everyone is warm and clean and chatting on.

LP and Joyce - roads OK still?

Busy - I hope it's OK your way too and you have all you need in case the snow is thick.

    Have a cosy day everyone.

    Morning all.

We have a light sprinkle of snow. We are going to the SM to get all we need, just in case. Also some skirting for the bathroom. The new vinyl floor looks nice, limewashed wood look.

This afternoon there is a patchwork meeting.

Hello Solentman, if you pop in, I've just looked back at your posts and seen your very overgrown garden from a year or two ago. How is it coming on? Very smart greenhouse and shed.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Hi all.... just completed an exhausting series of Skype  English language sessions for the Russian people I am helping at the moment ........one of the participants mentioned that she had heard that Lenin spoke English with an Irish accent ......I was intrigued so I did some searching and found this ....you learn something new every day image

Well, a huge pot of spiced parsnip soup has been made ... that'll keep OH happy for a few days and it's used up the last of the sack of parsnips from Bro's farm that we picked up at Christmas.

I've also prepped all the bits and pieces for supper this evening so, once I've had some more caffeine I can get on with other stuff .....

OH has been out and filled up the bird feeders ....... again.  We're still getting snowflakes floating lazily past the window, but nothing is accumulating ... so far ... image

  • Hi everyone, just joined so a little about me if you don't mind?

As the name suggests I live in Hampshire UK and have done all my life but travelled the world in work and play.

I have had a passion for gardening from a very early age and like so many was given my first patch of garden when I was about six and now at just about ten times that age the passion has not gone.

I moved here to the coast a few months ago after loosing my wife in early 2017.

We had a large house and garden that we had developed over thirty years that was to much for little old me. So I now have a beautiful 1st floor flat with a south east facing balcony already full of to many potsimage and I hope soon a new allotment where I want to grow good quality perennial plants on a reasonable scale to sell at local fetes, fairs etc for charity.

Thanks for reading hope it was not to boring I promise its the one and only lecture image

Hello and welcome to Forkers, Hampshire Hog. Not boring, I like to hear a little about people here. There are others on the GW forum who have lost a husband or wife. I hope you don't miss your garden and enjoy your allotment when it comes.

Just off to the patchwork meeting.

That sounds like a good plan HHog.  Maybe some veggies too for you and your new neighbours?

Not at all boring ... it's good to 'meet' you.  You'll probably pick up bits of information about us along the way ... but if we say  something that makes you curious, just ask image

And do feel free to just join in the chatter ... image
