She makes us laugh, Obelixx. Having both studied Prehistory and Ancient History at Uni, it is interesting to hear what she says.

  • Back from visiting a farm shop about 12 miles away ......... I've been there before and knew it was a good one with a very good butchery so we have stocked up on meat and veg etc ... it also sells a lot of other grocery items so we only needed to do a tiny supermarket shop ... and we've given the car a good run out to charge the battery up as we've hardly used it just lately, filled up the petrol tank and had lunch in the farm shop's café.

Now The Beast from the East can do its worst ........ we will not starve  even if we don't leave the house until summer arrives !!! image

  • Hosta , Ob ,,,re the Russian situation ......fully agree ...I was just being sarcastic hence the image......

Well finally back at the dacha after weeks away .....nice sunny day to arrive ,,,,,,and it is a public holiday after all "Defender of the Fatherland day"  formerly "Red Army day" .......but simply "Men's Day "...... .........with all the talk about Australia and arriving to see all the snow ......makes us yearn for our bucket list visit to Oz......maybe this year image

Yes DL, but how many Russians are as aware and don't just think our aversion to cheating athletes is an anti-Russian conspiracy?   Your dacha looks very grand.

Dove, our freezers are very well stocked with all sorts of meat and fish so, apart from fresh fruit, veg and salads, we're eating the freezers and can cope very well if we get the snow they're forecasting for next week.  No gritting round here and the narrow little roads all have deep ditches either side........  Full of water at the mo and frozen solid this morning.

Fed up with this cold weather now.  Please can someone organise for it to warm up.  Popped to Ashwoods for a wander around to clear my very woolly head. Slept too heavy and can't seem to wake up.  Went to friends for lunch and ate too much banana cake and feel very full, don't think it bodes well for Weightwatchers in the morningimage.

Want to sow some more seeds including sweet peas so will just have to wrap up warm and get on with it tomorrow.  Enjoy your evening everyone.

I'd forgotten about your weightwatchers Yvie.   Have you recovered form Xmas excesses or were you good?   I know what you mean about being groggy after a good sleep.

Might join you in some seed sowing tomorrow.  What have you got?

    Evening all! Night Pat!

Love those history documentary's they lull me to sleep when my brain won't turn off!

Hosta, get Dove to knit you a hat! Maybe you should have one too Pdoc! image no cold heads then, trust me!

Yvie, Im With you on the sick of the cold sentiment! Log fires are nice but I'd like to remember what being warm all the time is like now!

Dove, the farm shop sounds excellent, sounds like you will survive the long drawn out winter we seem to be having! image

Hope the resting is helping you feel better PP, its too cold to try and surface, stay under a blanket on the sofa and we will probably all join you before long! image

Thanks for the well wishes, Joyce,  BusyL, Obelixx, PP, Pdoc, Hosta, Raisingirl, Dove! image the interview went well but hard to read people so we will see, I'd prefer the job I went for on Monday so let's hope its good news! Auction not so great, should have sold on eBay as the auction house didn't photograph it well and show it to its best, but lesson learned! But I've found I may have some rare vinyl so doing some research and that will be sold at a vintage music type market or eBay. Interesting learning the market value of things though image

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, keep warm and safe everyone! That's REAL snow DL!!!! image

OH has had his cataract done, hurray! Was slightly worrying as his usual white coat syndrome kicked in and his blood pressure shot up. They gave him a dose of Diazepam and his BP came down so they went ahead with it. All very civilised and comfy chairs, nice staff and a cup of tea and biscuits afterwards.

We can go back to France as planned and back to Norfolk on Thursday. The going to Norfolk on Thursday was the planned trip, but the hospital decided to do the op now when we should have been in France, then changed it from Wednesday to Friday, just after we'd booked the extra flights. I've already said all that, starting to ramble! Relief it's done.
