Big fan of English Bacchus wines, Camel Valley version is also superb but will now look for the Winbiri. I bought 6 Bacchus vines a few years ago which have been in airpots on the balcony but need to go in the ground now - deer problems means a fencing solution has to be done first. Also have 6 Seyval Blanc (known as SaveAll because they are so reliable) and a couple of Chardonnay vines as well as a few red varieties.

Reminds me of the old joke about the retired colonel showing off his half acre of vinyard in his new South Downs "estate". Over a glass of his home brewed wine he regaled his guest from the city with the fact that the wine came from "just over there", waving to his vines. "Doesn't travel well then" commented the rather droll guest.

Glad you had a special anniversary Dove.

Fingers crossed for Mr Lizzie’s op today

Nearly the weekend - yay.  This one I plan to spend some time starting the great spring cleanup in the garden - think I might need to wrap up warm image

  • Morning all.

Still hacking and coughing, so not much sleep, but enjoying reading back over the years of treasures on this site. image Most threads flow along in advice (some good, some dodgy) and mutual admiration and some folk would start a fight in an empty house. image

Congratulations on your anniversary Dove. Isn't it nice when they make such an effort. Bless!

    I'm off for more coffee.

Enjoy your Friday. (Really? Friday?? I've totally lost track...must be the drugs. image)

  • Thanks Pat. I seldom get sick so I'm not the most patient patient! image The coughing and wheezing is bad enough but the inability to just get up and do stuff is maddening. Wandering into the kitchen exhausts me! It's not as if it's far away!!! image

In my sofa ridden state I'm on a diet of daytime telly and I've been watching a programme about the lifeguards on Bondi. I'm not a beach person but they have the life of it. Sunshine, great scenery (human and natural) and surfing in their lunch hour. image Thankfully they also take their job seriously. Some folk shouldn't be allowed out!!!

  • Good morning allimage

Thanks for all the kind wishes image

PP Get well very soon ((hugs))  ... I saw that programme when I was laid up with my foot ... as you say, not a bad life image  But there really are some idiots around aren't there image
