    Hi all.

    Got home yesterday evening.

Now have deep snow and a blizzard.

Thank you for your concern and also for some of the useful ideas.

I know that it was a mistake to want to go [ this time ], but there really are very few people with the requisite skills and even fewer who want to go out there.

I am sure that this sounds very arrogant, but in reality, it is just because over many years, I have found myself in a few of the worlds trouble spots.

I am also aware that I am not likely to get any fitter, so that in a fairly short time, I will feel that it is time to stop. Maybe, I was subconsciously thinking, that this might be my last trip.

It is a shame that more doctors do not want to do this work, but modern training is much shorter and more prescriptive and does not allow people to wander all over the world as I did.

The fact that the work is unpaid, inevitably limits the number of people who are able to contemplate it and most UK hospitals will no longer give staff unpaid leave.

Congratulations on your job WW, I hope you will be happy in it.

    Stay warm and safe.

OH is working from home today, as road is totally blocked. [ hooray ]

How can you lie there and think of England

  • Pdoc ... glad that you're home safe and sound ... and that your OH is safe at home too ... the roads are no  fun here either.  Two cars have been abandoned on our little slope  so far this morning ... someone once said Norfolk is flat ......... not this bit!!!!  image

Is that an offer to come clear any which falls here?image

  • Hello all!

It's surprisingly bright in my house at the moment (in a brief lull in the snow), because of the reflected light... it's also hard to tell how much has fallen because the wind is whipping it into drifts.  Not that it matters, really, provided I can persuade OH that it would be really foolish to drive to St Anne's and back for a rehearsal later on today.  image

Do robins call a truce when the weather is really bad?  Or are the 3 robins on the fat cake related?

Punkdoc, looks like hibernation is the best plan for you and Moira at the moment...

Hosta, your lake picture is stunning!

Lyn, I could post you some snow from here - it would probably still be frozen when it arrives, at this rate!  Our milkman struggled valiantly up the steps this morning, and the bottles are now on the worktop until the milk thaws.

LilyP, we feel for you...  image
