  • I tend to listen to classic fm, four or the cricket in the summer when its on.

I have a 4x4 and had them for many years unfortunately there are a lot of owners who don't have a clue how to use one and most never put them in 4wd

I use to volunteer myself and vehicle in the bad weather/ winter to get patients, doctors nurses etc to work or appointments.

It was quite fun at times watching there face imageimage as it got a bit slippery image

Weather wet here so I have cleared the table and going to sow a few seeds, but a coffee first I think.

Used to have Radio 4 LW as my morning wake up in Belgium.  Certainly leapt out of bed when cricket was on!  Horrors!   Can't get it here unless I use my PC and we have no technology in the bedroom.  These days my wake up is usually a cuddly white pussykitten.

I have put some seed potatoes in an egg box to chit them but need to empty more egg boxes before I can do more.  I have a metal egg basket in the shape of a chuck somewhere.........

    What are you sowing HHog?

    Afternoon all.

It's been chucking it down all morning here.

I only had 4 deliveries but when I got to the last customer and got the " you have arrived " message on the navigator, I thought, " no I most certainly have not". So far wrong it took me 25 minutes ( old school sat nav ) to get to the correct address. Hey ho.

Obs, no you're not alone in your lack of sympathy. I think the woman should be locked up.

For Obelixx and anyone else interested

    salted caramel and banana cake

to make the caramel ....melt 60g unsalted butter,60g light brown sugar, once sugar has melted turn the heat up a little till it bubbles and foams. Remove from heat allow to cool then whisk in 50ml double cream. Stir I half a teaspoon of rock salt if you want it salty   I make this up in batches and it keeps beautifully in the fridge fior about three months!

Heat oven to 160fan, 180 non fan, line a 2 lb loaf tin

    3  ripe bananas, 2mashed 1 sliced longways

    100 g unsalted butter

100 g soft dark brown sugar

    1egg

    100g plain flour

    50g ground almonds

    1/2 tsp bicarbonate soda

    1/2 tsp baking powder

Mash bananas with butter and sugar, once, add the egg and mix, then stir in 1tbs of cooled caramel Pour into loaf tin and dollop 4larxe drops of caramel   Top with remaining mixture and place on the two halved bananas

Bake for 30 mins or until cool   Once cold drizzle the remaining caramel over the top  (I felt at this stage it was sweet enough and didn’t!)

    Enjoy!

Sounds very much up my street and also a good one to try in the natives LP.  Thanks.   Not this week tho.  Done this one.

    SPICY CARROT CAKE

I do this as an all in one food processor cake but it's quite a large quantity so if you have no processor, or only a small goblet, you can combine the ingredients conventionally using a whisk in a large bowl but should then add the grated carrots at the end with the chopped walnuts.   You can also use half the quantities in a 7" square tin.

It is best made a day in advance to allow the flavours to develop.  Keeps well in an airtight tin.

    260g                        carrots
    4                             medium bananas
    225g                        soft brown sugar
    5                             eggs, beaten
    420g                        plain wholemeal flour
    1.5 tsp.                    bicarbonate of soda
    1 tsp.                       salt
    3 tsp.                       baking powder
    2 tsp.                       ground mixed spice
260                         sunflower, rapeseed or grape seed oil
    90g                         walnut pieces

    Topping:

300                         soft cheese eg Philadelphia (low fat if you're feeling virtuous)
    75g                         soft light brown sugar
    2 tsp.                       grated lemon rind
    3 tsp.                       lemon juice

Grease and line a 25cm / 10" square cake tin.   Heat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas mark 4.

Grate the carrot in the processor.  Remove the disk and insert the chopping blade.  Process the carrots, bananas and the sugar till well blended.  Keeping the motor running, gradually add the eggs, then the flour, soda, salt, baking powder and spice.  Pour in the oil and process till smooth.   Finally add the walnuts and process briefly to distribute them without disintegrating them.  Pour the mixture into the baking tin and level with a spatula.

Bake for about an hour.  The time will depend on the juiciness of the carrots and banana.  It
