I'm not really a fan either Joyce ... I know little about it ... our branch of the farmily is more inclined to soccer ... also when my Aged Ps were in the Lovely Home Pa's room overlooked the local rugby pitch ... several times when we were visiting the Air Ambulance had to land on the pitch for players however the excitement of the 6 Nations etc is quite infectious ... also a good distraction for some gardeners who are getting fidgety waiting for the soil to warm up
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Must admit, I was relieved when son gave up rugby, didn't like seeing the bruises and the stitches, but he was really disappointed.
Agree with you about chorizo and white fish, Obelixx. We had it quite simply in Sicily, with lemon juice, olive oil, a crushed up cooked tomato and local capers. I usually do a sauce based on bechamel, maybe with tarragon, dill or parsley in it, because that's how OH likes it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
My son and I visited so many hospitals with rugby injuries we used to “ rate” them on smell and food! Well that’s all a 14 year old cared about, he was at a very sporty school. It was the job of the poor chaplain to accompany the boys to hospital and phone mothers. He used to just say “guess who?” The worst injury he ever had was a football one tho He married a Physio who was Physio to a rugby team for a while he didn’t like that!
We put the tv off after 10 mins today
Wonky, glad to hear you have an improvement. I think it was Joyce who first mentioned Turmeric. I did quite a lot if research and after listening on here I have put an order in today. Obelixx seems to be benefitting too.
Busy hope oh s cataract op goes well I keep putting it off I would like one year free of medics if possible!
we should do our own study of turmeric and moniter success? Punk you could be our science expert (hope you feeling better)
fidget you have just been in too much water! Sorry you still coughing. Ours lasted 3 weeks!
just said goodbye to sister, bil and their dog. We have a lovely new supper club started in the village so they came down last night and we went along to sample. Excellent, and such a great treat to have somewhere to eat in the village! Late night, long slow breakfast then off with the dogs for long walk. We still have snow so there was lots of high jinks. The dogs are such pals. Plan was soup for lunch in front of the rugby. However we moved to the kitchen table! No need to ask why.
have a lovely evening, sorry to rabbit on

OH used to play rugby and go off on tours at Easter, including one to Barbados which I quite enjoyed as partners were allowed on that one. We eventually came to an agreement that he could have one late pass a month when I would stay quietly at home on Saturday night watching a cowboy film with no demands to go out and do something grown up or even silly with non rugby friends. During one of these evenings he called to say he was at the hospital with a dislocated shoulder. Could I come and fetch him? Yes, when the film's finished - pre video recorders.
Another time - not a late pass day - he got a detached retina from having a finger poked in his eye. That was a performance and led to a cataract years later which needed surgery in Belgium. Surgeon very apologetic cos he couldn't do it that week. 10 days later all sorted and his vision corrected while he was on so no more lenses in that eye. Brilliant.
Whilst in Paris, Possum noticed a lot of sphinxes in the statuary. For some reason she wasn't interested in hearing me recite the rugby song about camels and sphinxes.
As for today, I thought the Scots were supposed to be really strong this year. I have English, Irish, Scots and Danish blood and live in France so will be happy for anyone to win except the Welsh............ tho I do think they sing best so wouldn't mind.
Busy - I did our hake with fresh steamed Savoy cabbage from the garden and a stew of pink onions, bacon bits, butter beans, grilled peppers, cherry plum toms an d a teeny bit of smoked paprika. Yum yum but I do love white fish with tarragon. Avoiding cream at the mo tho.

LP...it was my daughter (a medical consultant) who recommended Turmeric to me as she had benefitted from taking it.
punkdoc says "
I was so hoping you were going to make a comment like that, Hosta.
Brought a big smile to my face."
I'm glad I didn't let you down.

What's the difference between a straight rugby player and a gay rugby player?
Usually about 6 pints.
"Trust me, I'm a doctor" looked at turmeric a couple of years ago. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/PSTGKKt3HR08tmK69w7J1b/does-turmeric-really-help-protect-us-from-cancer
It seems the genes affected by turmeric also play a role in depression so may be worth trying the experiment.
