There I was, minding my own business, cooking me duck and Jeremy ffff Vine comes on the One Show with airhead Jones. Eeek! Flipping winter olympics on t'other side. Recordings then.

I did like what they did with the 200 drones for the opening ceremony. Quite amazing to keep that lot coordinated. I watched a bit of the mogul skiing. It made my knees hurt just watching them.

It's either tarts or horrors made with layers of Genoese sponge which I find rubbery even when I make it." Cake in this part of France isn't brilliant either, there is the occasional good patisserie, but those cakes are more like desserts. Whenever ladies are asked to make puds for something the English make beautiful, delicious puds, like Pavlova, cheese cakes, crème caramel, but the French ladies make apple tarts using bought pastry that is so hard you can't cut it.
We did our shopping this morning. Glad we did as it snowed this afternoon. Hope it melts by tomorrow as OH is going to an all day choir practice an hour away. Also family in law will be driving down from Calais very early tomorrow morning.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Liri, we are thinking of going to Hampton Court Flower Show too this year as we'll be in England then. Does anyone know if parking is OK? Are there queues? Would it be better to go on Friday or Saturday?

It's a well kept secret that Belgian patisserie is better than French but neither do good cakes. Germans, on the other hand, make luscious cakes. Every time I made a cake for a Belgian event I was asked for the recipe and the same is happening here. Same with things like bread and butter pudding (using brioche), pav, Manchester tart, Bakewell tart..........
Hope OH's family has a safe drive Busy.
Instinct says Friday for Hampton Court but you'd hit dreadful traffic leaving at the end of the day as everyone heads for the hills for the weekend.

Agree, Fidget. About the drones and the knees...
I have never ever watched The One Show ........ do I take it that I've not missed much?

It comes on after the evening news so catches us out. You have not missed anything.
Mogul skiing was fun in the 80s before I grew multi-directional knees and slipped discs but not enough fun to make me watch winter Olympics.
