We're home safe and sound if a little chilly and with very snotty noses and slightly chestikoffs ... the heating has been switched on and the thermostat moved up a few notches.
The first thing I had to do when we got home was to fill the bird feeders ... they'd emptied them in just a couple of days.
We had a lovely time over New Year with MIL, SIL and niece and old friends ... other SIL and BIL didn't pop over as they didn't want to risk catching our colds, as they have horsey things coming up.
I didn't go out in the cold and wet at MIL's to do a NYD flower count, but I did enjoy looking at a large and very floriforous Mahonia (poss Winter Sun) in her NDN's garden.
Now I'll read back and find out what you lot have been up to ....

Welcome back Dove - glad you had a good time. Hope chestikoffs are soon on their way.
Wild weather here. Had one power cut already this evening. Still no gas delivery. On top of that, no electricity = no heating pump - so wood burner had to be emptied manually to stop the water tank boiling over. Not much fun, much cursing, and ended up with a pile of smouldering logs in the courtyard .....well smouldering til the hosepipe was turned on them. Smoke alarms going beserk just added to the atmosphere . Chicklet will be glad to leave tomorrow to return to a place where there is light and warmth without the associated drama
Oh dear, Chicky! Hope your power, at least, is back on now. I imagine the gas company will be getting a large piece of your mind...
Hope Dove is tucked up in bed getting rid of the sniffles and Mr Chestikoff. Too many germs around at the moment.
It only took 17 minutes on hold to HMRC before I got an admission from their Capital Gains expert that their "help notes" were decidedly unhelpful... but I've got the tax return done and submitted. Must pay the bill tomorrow so I don't forget. I think I'll do something more fun afterwards!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
We got through the night still without any rain. It’s hard to believe that we didn’t get any after all the clouds for most of yesterday.
Hubby has an interesting problem. He usually lets the drone out for a little look around the place unless it’s very windy, and two days ago he was playing with it when he noticed a shadow moving around. It was a large wedge-tailed eagle. He has read about them attacking drones, so brought it in. It was flying around the valley yesterday and we watched it circling around, obviously looking for the drone again. I’ve just been out to turn on hoses and once again there is a very large wedgie circling around in large circles ( obviously looking for his new white tempter). Hubby will have to be super alert for a while. They are a bit expensive to replace.
Im off to the little gallery for my volunteer stint in town shortly.
So the day I have been dreading has arrived . Got to wave goodbye to Chicklet for 7 months, this time without the prospect of an exciting holiday for us to look forward to . Grim.
