  • Derbyshire schools go back today which seems very wrong somehow.

Although on the the plus side I’m awake and have no excuse not to take advantage of the break in the rain this morning,

Still lots of clouds but no rain. My sister in Ulladulla said there been some terrible storms just south of her. (From memory about 8 miles, but it’s many years since I lived there so forget exactly).

    Morning all.

Better be too early than miss the plane, Hosta, there might have been very heavy traffic in the middle of the night! I hope you have a lovely holiday.

We had a very quiet day yesterday. Today I must do some washing and HW, then we are going to tea with friends this afternoon.

    Morning all.

Hopefully Hosta and hubby will be in the air by now, and on their way to some warmth and sunshine.  It would be lovely if they brought some back with them...

Nice clouds, Pat!  It'll be a while before it's worth hanging much washing outside, here.  Never mind - the birds think that spring is on the way, judging by the amount of loud singing going on.  image

It sounds as if you've had the right sort of visitors, Dacha!  Mine did a lot of washing up, and helped with the cooking, too, so I'm definitely not complaining.  Plus they brought a couple of entertaining children with them (our granddaughters).  image  But I too am wondering what sort of world we're leaving for them to inherit... I've just pledged online to replace all our light bulbs with LED ones this year, which makes me feel I'm at least doing something.  Hopefully all our little efforts, individually pitifully small, will add up to change - though there's not a lot we can do about Trump et al...

Back to school already?  Seems a bit harsh.  We've only just finished eating up the Christmas pudding!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Yes Liri......fully agree with you .....I was just out for a walk in the garden this morning and saw the very unseasonal fresh mole hills (that doesn't sound right .....my English language is going to pot image)  ....I can't bring myself to harm them but any ideas to get the little blighters "orf my land" would be gratefully accepted image

I also saw the aftermath of our personal NY firework display which really doesn't help ......image

Good morning everyone.   Cool, grey and wet here but no hurricanes today.  Still hibernating weather tho.

Liri - tax is a minefield with traps all over.  doesn't seem fair but it's a lot easier for them to take from the honest than to hunt out all the avoiders and evaders.  All our new lights are LED and also bulbs as we replace them.  found some old fashioned bayonet fittings here with very old bulbs.

Busy - I have started with no 1 DVD of HP while I do this latest sewing marathon.   Still think they're not as good a sthe books but I can't read and sew!   Enjoy your tea.

Chicky - hope the traffic was OK.  Enjoy it while you can.  Even in little Gembloux the difference was amazing and noticeable in small towns round here on the days I've forgotten the school run effect.

DL - we can only do our bit and hope to influence those around us.   Even China has now grasped it can't go on like it has.

    Keep warm and safe everyone.

Another storm, Eleanor, due this evening. It must be pretty rough out in the Atlantic just now.

Glad you didn't have damage Busy.

Dacha - must have been strange for you not to have an icy dip in the lake at New Year.
