Clari ... Those grandparents sound like my sort of people ... an evening out with the Plant Gall Society
We both slept like logs. Hosta ... words are going to be had with the owners re taking our number off the alarm system. If they want someone to cover when they're out socialising it's going to cost them

Dove: it's the local naturist society (I think that's the right one!) They meet monthly and though I brought the average age down by 40 years it was a really well done talk. Clearly it was the chaps every waking moment type of passion.
Dove: I trust your OH gets compensation for over time worked, danger money. The bosses must have a very odd view not to think of going the next day at least with a new float!!
Good morning it's been a very cold night here, dawn was amazing!
Dove glad it had a happy ending and you have caught up on sleep
Punk glad you and Mrs P got a walk, easy does it and hope you felt better for it.
Clari interesting time at grans! I am still trying to work out what exactly you"do" you sound understaffed!
Fairy, may have been a better day yesterday but probably the right decision for your knees thank you for remembering my chum She is 95 per cent back to her old self, we laughed at lunch and she had her twinkle back in her eye. I really feared I would never see that again
Chicky thank you to you too for remembering how worrying she was to me How is Adelaide? I am sure you are having fun, I saw the photo if the jackaranda tree, have you seen the passionfruit trees? The pepper trees oh there are so many I will stop now. Have fun
heading to lovely gp this morning to dobattle over my thyroid which has been a problem for 25 years it's interesting how many of us have this annoying problem My replacement keeps being reduced without telling me. Why? I need all my energy as heading to London family later in the week.
greetings to all I haven't mentioned
have a good day

LilyP ... They worry about possible osteoporosis when were on high doses of thyroxine ... They reduced mine a couple of years ago but my symptoms returned so my GP reinstated my former dose on the understanding that I take regular calcium and Vit. D and K to support my bones.

OK Clari. I have a pic of you giving a talk to a load of old codgers sat there in their wrinkly skins. It's not good at this time in the morning. As you are now the forums expert on plant galls you can help me. Our oak is covered in the spangle galls as on your leaf, not to mention the oak apple type and the crown gall type. The leaves get mown up and then in a builders bag.(Two bags full yesterday. ) As there is some grass in there as well, it heats up. Will that kill all the possible wasps or am I due an invasion next spring. Should I be annoying the neighbours on this fine day by having a big smoky bonfire instead to kill them all off? Is there anything that predated on these thing? Am I doing it all wrong? Help.
Regarding blue planet. The coral reef bit was a bit early for me. It should have been January. That is when I will reach maximum withdrawal symptoms. At the moment I am a bit dived out. We did do 54 dives over three weeks, mostly just over an hour, but some up to 90 mins, including one memorable one, where we had a mimic octopus at the end of the dive, OH carried on photoing, the diveguide ran out of Nitrox, and we carried on breathing off of my tank. You're supposed to hit the surface with 40 bar or more, starting off with 200. OH had 40 , I had 30, Diveguide was on fumes. Mouth a bit dry but brilliant dive.
January I start watching the home made videos over and over. As someone said, I can just relive the best bits. The video is not up to Blue planet quality, but it keeps me happy.
I've just had my " sister" ( she's actually my brother's ex wife ) call to say her mother has just died, peacefully at their home. She was 92 .
I've offered to cancel our holiday and go up to Herts to be with her and help with " stuff" but she's insistent I go. I feel bad I'll probably still be away for the funeral, but as my sister says " there's nothing you can do"
Her mother is the last of "our" parents to go and it marks the end of that era . I've known her since I was about 5.
Off to the shop to see my rota for this afternoon. Not in any mood for it to be honest.
Hosta ((hugs)) our sincere sympathy to you and your 'sister' .......... I know how close you are and how much this will mean to you.
If she's insistent that you should go then I think you should do as she says ... you and OH need the sunshine and she knows you well. You can be with them in spirit on the day ... it's amazing how close you can feel at times like that.
On a similar theme, but obviously not the same in importance ... we've just discovered that my nephew is getting married in May while we're away on holiday ... it's booked and paid for in order to get a good rate ... they'll just have to understand.

Morning all.
Just taken the granddaughters to school.
I was fine on Friday when I arrived at son's. Now I'm all bunged up with a cold. About to face the long drive back. At least it's not raining.

Clari, that's a high turnover of bosses.
LP, have family found new dog friendly accommodation?
