Good afternoon all.  We have been out to the annual autumn plant swap and picnic lunch of the gardening club.  Lovely, friendly people and keen to offload plants.   I managed to resist the ones I thought would become a problem and still have a good haul.    Been cloudy and even wet and is still very windy but the sun is trying to brighten things up.  I'd be happier with several days of serious rain but looks like I won't get my wish yet awhile. 14C so quite comfy out of the blasts.  Walkies will be bracing.

    Good news about the leaves Pat but a shame for those sheep and their owners;

Pdoc - well done.  Fresh air and plants has to be good for you.

Dove - what a palaver.  Hope you've both caught up on sleep now.

Chicky - we really liked Adelaide.  lovely food market if you get the chance to go;  lots of oriental veggies as well as the usual.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.

The granddaughters were invited to a birthday party this afternoon. I went too. Seemed the other parents were staying so I did. Really nice people mostly French of course, but there was a Finnish lady who spoke English and the grandmother and her sister who had come to stay were English. The children played, parents talked and cake was eaten.

Weather went back to being rubbish.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Sounds like a good party all round Busy.  We have now cooled down to 9C and it has clouded over so a warmish night in store.  Lots of pink bits round the edges tho.  Have a safe drive home tomorrow.  Hope it doesn't rain or get misty for you.

Dogs have just had 2nd walk of the day and then galloped all round the garden when we went to pick veg for dinner.  Fit or just daft?

Have to roast a chuck now and get my gear together for a full day of special projects at patchwork class.  Something felt and Xmassy I expect.  We'll see.

Good evening all. A mixed bag of weather, fortunes and activities have been going on by the sounds.

Had a lazy day here and just prepared the scone-cobblers for the stew later - looking forward to that.

A bounty on TV tonight, for me anyway, so just deciding what to watch, what to record and what to save for later in the week. It's like one of those logic puzzles: OH won't watch x, Blue Planet needs to be seen on big tele, Strictly results need to be watched today to avoid spoilers...

    Have a pleasant evening everyone.

My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Don't forget Howard's End BBC 1 9pm   We've set a series link to record it all. So long since I read it.

Just been listening to Johnnie Walker's interview with Elton/Bernie Taupin which I recorded this afternoon. Brilliant.

Finally removed the last lot of sweet peas from under the bedroom windows. No chance of any flowers now, but the foliage was still good. Blocking light though. Washed the car earlier and went to collect various things including getting some bark for the borders. Got the cover on it as we have more frost tonight. It's already only 2 out there. Been lovely though, although no warmth in the sun, and I got a wash almost dry.

Good that all was fine with OH Dove. You'd think there would be bigger fish to fry than a farm shop though - although maybe that's the point. Maybe they thought it was an easier target? Right royal pain in the b*tt though. image

Glad doc got a stroll. I was almost tempted to walk again today, as there was decent weather in most places, but didn't want to push my luck with the knees.

Toast and a banana for tea. Girls were out for a late lunch with their Dad as it was his birthday yesterday, so I don't have to cook anything. Marvellous!  image

I read it for A level decades ago and then again, a decade or so later, so I could enjoy it.

Wasn't Howards End done as a TV series 30 years ago?

I've chopped a couple of buddlejas down and shredded them. I've had three men knock on the door in the past two weeks offering to tidy the garden. I happen to like it like that. Its a nature reserve.  OH has mowed the lawns ( on the back) Together we filled two  builders bags. A long bath to soothe my aching back, and I've put dinner on.

  • Pdoc....great to hear that you are on the mend image ....I will be in Geneva next week but will stay on the French side , Ferney Voltaire .....much cheaper.....Ob .....what's the latest cool stuff to bring back from France?
