I told them " we've got friends here on holiday" and he seemed perfectly fine with that.

We were asking why planning departments seem to attract such a proportion of petty , small minded , self serving individuals with no real vision.

Look at the NT houses, and others, Much loved and visited by millions every year: Longleat, Chatsworth, Petworth, Blenheim Palace etc etc. How many of those would be built with local planning laws?

We have wonderful country houses from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, but only Castle Drogo springs to mind when it comes to the 20th Century.

Planners seem to allow hideous pastiche , mock Tudor, mock Victorian, mock Georgian  developments, devoid of any architectural integrity whatsoever, whilst failing to appreciate that Georgian houses were Modern , not " traditional" when they were built.

Oh - don't get me started on planning departments at councils Hosta. I think it depends what side of bed they get out of in the morning - or whose bed.  I wish I'd never built this extension. Never had the sort of  problems with any other work like I've had with this one.  Hope it works out for you eventually.

Gey breezy here last night too Joyce , but it settled a bit during the day. Hope Liri doesn't have to hold onto her hat over the next few days  image

Joyce, have you seen that AD for Eve mattresses? I AM that man, but can't afford the £700 for one.
