Oh gosh Joyce! That looks like it might have been planted *just* far enough from the house to avoid major damage though - not sure if I'm reading the picture right. Was your daughter home when it came down? Must have been very frightening.

    I hope everyone stays safe.

Sending you a squeeze, Pat. Glad you have your other daughter to talk to, but it must be very hard, for all of you.

And punkdoc I'm so sorry you are ill. Hope you can get back safely and recover soon.

Did everyone else have the weird light and pink sun earlier? There seemed to be photos on Facebook from all over the country. It was quite sudden, quite uncanny and quite extreme. I've honestly never seen anything like it. The wind got up a bit to add to the weirdness, but it all seems to have passed now.

Oh dear, Joyce, I hope there isn't too much damage.

We have friends who live on the West coast of Ireland, they are visiting Dordogne at the moment. I hope their house is safe.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Love to you Pat, must be horrible, bad enough loosing our parents, cannot imagine loosing one of my kids.We had lovelly weather this morning, it was 17d in the shade at 7 am.  After lunch the sky went yellow, like before snow, then pink in places, my youngest daughter who is about 40 miles away, said her sky was half pink half black she didnt like it, AND the street lights were on by 3 0 clock.

Good evening everyone. Thanks for all the messages of support. I’m feeling better this morning after a long nights sleep.

Joyce, I hate to ask, but is that tree a Eucalyptus? They have a habit of falling like that. image

Time to get busy in the garden.

I’ve been watching your weather reports thanks to your help finding sites. At long last our weather channel has shown something of the storm in Ireland. That’s the first time it has been even mentioned. Always the Californian fires Lately.

doesnot look too good over there, and they are comparing it to the storm 30 years ago on the same date. Strange. I thought our weather was changing dates, but apparently not.

Those fires in Portugal and Spain look bad, as well. They haven’t shown a map of exactly where the fires are - just that it’s in those two countries. I assume the winds from the hurricane aren’t helping either, since the UK map shows the winds being pretty widespread from Ireland to the east.
