Dove.....you just brought me out of early hibernation....those pies...
We have been so disoriented over the past week or so....we have been ferrying MIL to different places to decide where she is going to finally have some surgery to prolongate her sight.
It is her Birthday today .....which funnily enough coincides with another Russian person.....I wonder who than can be
So we got back to the dacha ....finally ....very bleak....but I have prepared her bday dinner based on what she has come to love of my cooking ......she used to hate that a man would invade her cooking space ....especially a mad Irishman who would take her only daughter away
So with fading eyesight .....she left me in the kitchen and went off in the rain to have a swim
So I made ....crayfish tails (Russian ones are the best , even the Swedes import them) in a light homemade garlic mayo with lavash crusty bits ...
MIL loves my carbonara .....so that is what we had
Oh no, no, no Dacha - Scottish crayfish tails are the best
Hope you're getting somewhere with MIL's eye probs.
Pies look good Dove. We're having leftover bolognese. Need to go to the supermarche later and collect daughter, so must get a few things.
Been outside as it cleared up and was very pleasant and mild. Only came in just before 7pm.Catching up with the Tom Petty concert that was on earlier today (Sky Arts) Forgot to say on here that it was on. Still available for downloading I should think. Was reminiscing with ex hubby about him. It was 1992 we went to see him at the SECC. If I get a walk tomorrow, I shall have some on full blast in the car. Perfect driving music. I shall be # runnin' down a dream....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Cheers Fairy...we really are working hard to get MIL's eyesight worked upon.....I have been to Scotland so many times during my life .....my older brother lives just outside Aberdeen for like 40 years ....I have never been offered crayfish tails by anyone there
Thanks for all the good wishes, glad to see you haven't forgotten about me.
Garden wise - I have sensible, manageable, but fabulous plans. My gardening friend (a gardening whizz) is coming to stay for a week at the end of October, she is going to advise. This is the link to the 'before' album, I do hope the 'after' one will be an improvement.
Also, couple of snaps of new kittens, Cupcake is the lighter one, Sprinkles the black one. Tricky to get a decent shot, they don't sit still for long. All rules broken as they are so affectonate, they are sleeping on my bed, alongside Charlie, not much room for me, not that I get to be in it for long. The plan is that they will live in the barn like basement when they are a bit bigger, deal with little (and big) mice!
Just mopping kitchen floor now (I did have a friend for dinner so had to stop earlier to entertain). Hope to pop in tomorrow.

Have to find something useful to do when it's too wet and cold to be outside Hosta
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I took Worzle for a wee trip to the garden centre. Ate lots of chocolate, drank lots of tea and caught up on some TV.
Glad Worzle's better now

Yeah. Hubby bought some little yellow/white violas to stick in his little "strawberry pot"
He's going to Mole Valley to get some compost on Monday but I think I'll get the job of planting them up.
Thanks for all the good wishes, glad to see you haven't forgotten about me.
