Evening peeps. Been outside till fifteen mins ago as it was getting dark. Making the most of it and got a lot done. Been windy all day but a dampish one. Sky was getting black and wind was getting more blustery, and the rain's coming.
doc - big hug from me. Take care of yourself. We have all the time in the world. Ooh - that would be a good line for a song....
Forecast is good for tomorrow and I'm considering doing the other Mamore I haven't done out to the east. R*ddy clock change means only light till five-ish, so I don't know if I have enough time. I need to drop daughter at work for seven, so can't go earlier. Will mull it over and do the Pap of Glencoe if I don't think I have enough hours - or enough legs, since I haven't been out for a while.
Hosta - do they ever appreciate people who go the extra mile? Literally, in your case
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
It's much better for your wrists not to use a trowel, Fairy. Just not so good for the skin and nails...
OH is sore and sleepy but fine - thanks for all the good wishes. Turns out he has a hiatus hernia (like his mother & daughter) causing acute heartburn, but nothing more sinister.
So I have spare hugs going in your direction, Punkdoc.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Meant to say it was good to see fidget back - we'd been wondering where she'd gone, although as I'm now over 27, I'm putting it down to that, if she'd mentioned going away ....
Off to organise my ruckie for the hill. At least I get an extra hour to sleep, so that always helps!
Night all - see you tomorrow evening at some point.

This afternoon I went and tidied up first OH's grave in the village cemetery. I planted it like a gravel bed with rockery plants for ease of maintenance. I had also planted a white rose called "Silver Anniversary" which SIL and BIL gave us for our 25th anniversary in July '98. I hadn't yet planted it in the garden when he died that November. Usually the cemetery has been tidied up in October and people have put chrysanthemums on the graves, but it was full of weeds and not many chrysanthemums. There was a notice on the gate saying it is now a herbicide free area. The French are trying to ban glyphosate. But it would be good if they could gather some people together to go and weed it. I weeded a bit.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Funnily enough one of the chaps yesterday was saying how amazing it is that National Trust properties like Sissinghurst - visited as a group by my new garden club - have volunteers who go and weed and prune. Clearly not yet in the French psyche to look after one's heritage. People in my former Belgian area are also deploring the state of their cemeteries and lack of maintenance by the local council.
How hard can it be to get together and organise a neighbourhood weed team?
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Punkdoc, you’re in my thoughts. Hope you can feel a bit more relaxed at home.
glad to hear the horse seems to be happy with the rescue horse.
Hosta, you know the old saying about the willing horse, don’t you?
Fidget, your holiday sounds Lovely.
Fairy, hope your day works out as planned.
I forget who else I wanted to respond to.
Hubby cooked a lovely meal last night - pasta with grilled red Capsicum, tomatoes, etc. we really enjoyed it and not much left for today, but this morning I’ve been suddenly reminded why I don’t overindulge in tomatoes. MSG reaction - aching joints! I’ll have a telfast tablet. Hopefully that’ll ease things.
A not so cheerful surprise. I’ve been wondering why I haven’t seen mother Cunningham Skink for a few days and have been seeing fewer of the babies. I think I’ve worked it. A metre long Goanna hanging around the house. I suspect they predate on them.

I think the term we need here is " total lack of communication"
Hosta Hugs for Punkdoc.
Surprising how communication seems to be totally missing in many organisations isn't it? You wouldn't think it would be that difficult, would you?
Quick pizza for dinner. Don't think my fingernails are in a suitable state to be chopping veg etc
Why use a trowel when your hand cleaves out a very good hole for small plants and bulbs

I've scrubbed up reasonably well Liri
Glad all is well with OH.
