    Morning again one and all.

Clari, I adore Buff Orpingtons, they're divine. I looked after a garden and she had some. They rarely laid an egg but they were soooooooooooooooo beautiful one forgave them.

I'm going to give the heydychiums one last year. They bulk up quickly so they're not great in pots but need a long, hot summer to flower well. We certainly didn't get that this year.

It was 5 days in June where folk walked about moaning  " it's toooooo hot" then spent the next 4 months complaining about the rain. Serves them right. It's all their fault.

Buffs have so much charector; and since there's only two of us at home owning chickens for me is more the fun than the productivity. I cared for a neighbours 4 big red evil hens one summer: every neighbour on the street was sick of eggs by the end of it!

I don't remember complaining about the heat so it can't have been me. Mind I might have been looking the other way and missed it.

Clari ... I've just remembered ... The Queen Mother kept Buff Orpingtons ... they were her favourite breed and she was very enthusiastic about them .... apparently.

Most appropriate for 'Lady Clarington' image

I didn't know that! Obviously ones breeding is showing though and if they are good enough for The Queen Mother... image

Morning all - been a bit absent. Hands are sore so I haven't been able to do much typing, or even scrolling pages.

No chance of catching up, so I won't try. Hope everyone who's been a bit 'off kilter '  is on the mend, and those with household damage are getting sorted. My own damp regions (ooh err missus) are dried out, although I haven't yet tried putting a new bulb in the hall light  image

Managed to get the grass cut yesterday as we've, at last, had a couple or days without any rain, or at least, without any heavy rain. The frost yesterday was an air one, so just car scraping needed, although it was a coating of fairly solid ice because of the rain the day before. The sun helped make the afternoon quite pleasant for pottering and tidying, even if it was only low double figures. I might get my birthday daffodils planted in their pots today if the rain stays away. A present from my sister. They're called 'June Allyson', and for those of you who know my real name, they're highly appropriate as I was named after her. image

Clari, the late duchess of Devonshire feeding her chickens. Not sure if it's a dressing gown or a robe that she's wearing.

I think, bearing in mind my 'heritage', The Glen MIller Story was probably the defining one for my Mum, Dove image

Still a favourite whenever it's on. image

Loathe Little Women in book and film - so flipping preachy - but loved the Glenn Miller story and, of course, the music.

The late Duchess of Devonshire was a Mitford so bound to be quirky but she did do a very good job of making Chatsworth a working enterprise.  Well done her.

Coat/jacket done except for button sewing.  Lunch next and then I have to go and fetch my camera that I left in Isabelle's car yesterday and then a hunt for more anti-itch cream.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

That's a lovely present, Fairy.  image

Dove, that's a great story about chickens giving you a "way in" to help a client.  Clearly you were the right sort of social worker...  image

It worked for OH as a maths teacher too.  He used to run out-of-school football as well as choirs (yes, a glutton for punishment), and found that those extra activities often earned him the respect and confidence of kids who couldn't really be bothered with maths for its own sake.

Never been to Malta, LG... will there be photos??  Hope you have a lovely time.

It's the calm before the storm.  Just about to make a sandwich for OH to consume after the "procedure", then we're off to the hospital...

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
