  • Dove .....that link is amazing ,what a great strong young woman ....her creations are amazing ....I used to wear something like her furry gilet in the 60s image

AuntyRach .....multiply that by 5 .....cats I mean ......they are all roaming outside at the moment .....they know the summer is over and they will all go back to MIL's apartment in the city of Orel (in English Eagle) in the next two weeks so they are all broody image

Talking about hibernation .....Fairy .....you have done me a great service, as I looked at your comment 10 minutes after I posted and I realised something is wrong ........."the freaking pumps are still connected " ......- 3 degrees coming ....we have lost more than a few pumps through complacency ....so got them off , emptied and got the old champagne corks on the anchor bolts after a splash of WD40 ......the pumps are now in hibernation in the banya image

Ob....your Chocolate beetroot fudge cake sounds amazing .....we have lots of beetroot left over .....yep even after all the borscht

Must check out your link dove - not had time. Went outside as it was half decent. Didn't last!

I'd hoped to get grass cut image

A woman came to my door earlier. She had spoken to me a few weeks ago about the sloe berries in my hedge and I'd told her if she wanted them, she was welcome, so this was her coming back to have some. Fortunately, my sister had left some after snaffling a bagful last weekend. She was very grateful and we had a nice little chat image

I just heard something very interesting on the radio news. Apparently, the beaks on Great Tits in Britain are getting longer. Researchers reckon it's because we're so keen on feeding them, and the beaks have been getting bigger so that they can reach into feeders more easily....image

    I'm saying nothing Edd...image

Apparently they've researched them in Europe, and there's a noticeable, albeit tiny, increase in the last forty years in the British birds. Might have a look online to see if I can see any more about it.

Right, that's me done for the day.

I've been cutting grass/ fallen leaves in the wood and sticking it all in dumpy sacks. I've now got 67 on the go. Double last years total.image

    Obsessed? Moi?

Suppose I'd better go and light the woodburner.

Just came on here and was about to say I'd moved all last year's leaves from their bulk bag into plastic sacks (the leaf mould is not quite ready yet), in order to free up the bulk bag for this year's collection... but I feel a bit inadequate after Hosta's post!

After lots of rain last night, today turned out quite nice in an autumnal sort of way. Windy enough to get some washing dry, which always pleases me more than it probably should.

Watched a recorded episode of British Gardens in Time last night - the Biddulph Grange one. Although I was familiar with the name I knew nothing about the garden or its story - amazing. Can't believe the transformation that the NT have managed in the last couple of decades.

Bought a new hard disc recorder for the TV only to find it wasn't compatible with the old Sky Box, had to take it back. Been a lot of new technology since I had the Sky box so rang a man who deals with that sort of thing. Will have to have a new Freeview Box instead with a recorder in it.

Have done quite a bit of HW today as people to lunch on Sunday. It's bring and share for Harvest Festival after church. At church we collect for a local French charity who send a couple of their people to collect the offerings, tinned food, toiletries, money.
