My poor hostas have been chewed to bits by snails - only ever had slugs in Belgium and never this voracious - as well as stressed by the drought.  The one that is holding up best is Dream Weaver which is gorgeous.

Hope your tenants have completely cleared out now and no more nasty surprises in store.  Catalogue all the problems and take photos and definitely withhold the deposit.

After her exertions yesterday, Rasta, aged 10, is prancing around like a playful puppy today.   Clearly had a good sleep!  I shall finish cutting out the new frock and then go and get dirty, and maybe a bit browner too, planting out some more brassicas and "discussing" raised beds with OH.  He wants to change all my plans and dimension to save sawing a few planks in two.   Short termism or what?

I've told the agents to withhold the deposit and I've sent her the photos.

They've not left the keys with us or the agents. I've left one of our keys in the back of the door so they can't get back in and we can access via the garage until keys are returned.

Ah, Dove, my grandaughter (7) just asked me what I was doing what is the gardeners world forum! Just made choc cakes with her and her brother (6), they are going to "decorate" them later, as per the MOS "You" magazine.  Saw consultant, had throat "lump" removed with liqiud nitrogen.  The other will be removed in the next 4 weeks, then sent off for histology.

Afternoon all on a grey fed up kind of day.  Went to wilkos this morning to pick up an order of toiletries and medicines, mainly holiday stuff, but I can't seem to get any enthusiasm going for trip.  Wish the weather was  better so I could get out in the garden and tire myself out.

Sorry to hear about your tenants Hosta.  We have tenants in father in law's house, a single mum and her son.  She might not keep the house up to my standards but she has been there for about six years now and doesn't cause us any trouble so I wont mind having to tart the house up when she leaves.  We will have to sell the property in a few years time to pay off the rest of our interest only mortgage.  Not looking forward to all the hassle when the time come.

NannyB ... The liquid nitrogen method is really good isn't it?  I had some 'potentially nasty' moles removed that way,  one just below my eyebrow removed with a laser (smelt of burning flesh  image) and two big ones from my neck removed surgically ... stitches and everything ... I went to help out with a theatre production that evening and someone thought I had a spider on my neck and tried to brush it off image  They were sent to histology but thankfully they weren't nasty.

All I have to show for the experience is two scars like fang marks on the side of my neck
