I've given it a preliminary "let's not bother vacuuming first" kind of go Clari and it seems good so far. Considering the foot traffic, both human and canine, that comes through, I'm surprised it wasn't a lot worse. I'm going to do it more thoroughly tomorrow and see what it does to carpets. So far, so good.

And HF you need neither to speed nor wear socks to do a triple Lutz after using...ask me how I know!!! image

pp, we've got a steam cleaner and I love it. Wee bit of a faff to set it all up, but when I do , I'm like a thing possessed.

A word of warning. We've got slate tiled floors and , post cleaning, they're like a sheet of ice. Beware rushing about wearing socks.!!!!!

I can only dream of being "too warm." I can't remember being this white in August.image

    See original post

I can't believe the difference in our weather, I've been out working in full sun, in a sleeveless top so hot I couldn't stand it, didn't take sun cream with me! had to come home and change. We're only 10 miles apart as the crow flies, I suppose you're nearer to the Atlantic than we are.

Pathetic isn't it Joyce and LP? I brought in my duvet cover and sheet, which were very wet, spun them and hung them back out, but ten minutes later I brought it all back in. Pointless. The 'dry' spells last five minutes if you're lucky. image

Joyce - that seems ridiculous re your daughter. Surely they could find a way of sorting that sensibly? Mind you -  we're talking about the legal system. Since when was there any sense where that's concerned. image

I think the steam mops only work well if you start off with a new floor, if that makes sense.  As you say Clari - you can still get dirt coming off after you've cleaned a floor.

It's not too bad here at the minute FG if you want to send your washing over. It'd be dry in 10 mins if there wasn't another shower. It's the showers what does it. If you miss it everything gets soaked again in a minute!

All that legal/bank business gets on my wick! Any money launderer worth his salt would be through that in a flash. Us honest folk can't even remember our passwords! It's obvious we're too dopey to be up to anything!!!

Steam mops are great as they do it all without chemicals.    I wander round barefoot a lot so need clean floors.  Hate bits of grit and stuff under my feet.   Given the muck that is lifted off our tiles on a regular basis, either by steam or a normal quick mop, I hate to think what is lurking in fitted carpets and it's also a lot easier to get up dog and cat hairs and bits of thread.

I could dry your washing for you.  The whirly wotsit is free cos I've done all ours.

Afternoon all,  thank you for all your good wishes re Firstborn.  After the good news I spent the day cuddling and playing with Jonah and today I have been getting nails and eyes sorted at the salon, even treated myself to a pedicure. Tomorrow I'm off to the venue to deliver cake and wedding dress and attend a rehearsal.  All we need now is the weather but it's not looking too clever at the moment.  The ceremony will be outside if the rain holds off.

Sorry to hear you are poorly Pat hope you feel better soon.  Hosta hope they can sort out your problem now that they carried out the tests.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone.

I do like the idea of the steam mop - no chemicals as you say Obs. I'm just not sure they're as efficient as we're all led to believe! I used it in the last house where we had completely renovated the kitchen and had oak flooring. It was excellent on that, and all the other new flooring through the back hall and entrance, as it was used constantly. The wooden floors here were all fairly new when I moved in, and it's excellent on them and the new shower room tiled floor, but once a floor's been used and abused for a while, I don't think it's so effective. The kitchen floor never seems as good, even though it was quite new too. Gets more use I expect, especially with me and my dirty gardening feet. image

    I'm probably talking billhooks!

Glad you're feeling a bit more cheery Yvie. Fingers crossed for a dry day image
